Ammo for 10-22

I have a Kidd 10-22 that I shoot in 100 yard Benchrest. I have tried several lots of Eley Match and 5 lots of Eley Precision and they all are VERY sporadic. Am I missing something or are autos just that way? Any ammo advice?

I shot 4 different sk brands, match, LR, auto...etc.

Found the one that shot the best and bought a bunch of it.

Issue is finding one that holds vertical. I was getting a low one here and there with different ones.

From my Green Mtn. SS 21" Barrel, I Found the SK Std Plus, and Wolf Match Extra,. Both shot, sub 1/2" group's at, 50 yds,.. you Gotta,.. TEST !

Before you do anything else try some SK/Lapua ammunition.

I do not shoot a 10/22, But I have 2 savage Anschutz 64 match rifles. one of them loves the eley Benchrest-precision and won matches with it. The other rifle Hates the ammo but shoots both Eley match and Lapua Center-x very well.

Kevin, Have you shot it at 100 yds? Average Group Size?

ok i will say it. A good part of the problem is the rifle. I have a10/22 that i love but getting tight groups (especially at 100 yards) is hard. I have a anschutz 54 and 100 yards is a challenging distance for 22lr

I have a Clark 10/22 and it really likes SK SemiAuto. Have shot some 5 shot groups at 50 yds in .30”. Cycles the gun very well unlike some of the other standard velocity ammo.

It would be easy to just say, X brand works in them.
Each barrel will behave differently.
It kinda sucks because you need to try as many different brands
you can get your hands on to see what your rifle likes.
And sometimes they will shoot differently from 50y to 100yds.
So test at the distance you'll be shooting.

The lot of Norma TAC22 I have shoots surpringly well in both of my Kidd builds. Not really what I'd call match worthy but pretty good considering the price of the ammo. When I really want to see what they can do I use Center-X or Midas+ just like I would with my bolt-action RFBR rifles. I've shot a couple ARA UL cards with the one rifle. It did better than I thought it would.

Before you buy more ammo, adjust your action screw. Start at a light torque, then adjust to stronger torque in 3-5lb increments. Use the same ammo while doing this. Youll see a difference on your target.

The lot of Norma TAC22 I have shoots surpringly well in both of my Kidd builds.

A friend told me to try his tac22. I figured shotgun like groups, but boy was I surprised!
Bolt guns loved the stuff, 10/22 not so much. Garmin (only 5 shot sample) showed ES and SD was half that of a decent lot of CenterX.
