Ammo box for 6BR?

A friend who is building his first 6BR wants know which of the commonly available plastic 50 round ammo boxes is the best fit for his slow twist,70gr max) ammo. Thanks

MTM's RS-S-50 is the best fit I've found for BRs. It works well with the 105/115 bullets; if your friend's 70gr. rounds are so short that they bounce & rattle around too much to suit him, he can always cut a piece of foam for a snug fit into the lid to act as a spacer and hold cartridges in place better.

The bect BR case guards i have found are MTM RS-S-50 they are well made and i just had one that had a crack in the lid i emaild MTM and without even questioning me they sent 3 to replace older case guards aswell to Australia there is no better backup than that i use some 1/2" foam in the top to stop rattles.

I shoot quite a variety of cartridges and have many different boxes in inventory. I just started shooting 6BR and immediately discovered that the above mentioned MTM RSS 50 is THE box. I, too, cut rectangles of 1/2" soft foam to fit which keeps the loaded bullets from rattling and also keeps the fired cases in their place. The RSS 50 plastic chamber height is low enough to get even fired cases out using only fingers. The longer case, RM, has the fired cases too far down to capture with fingers.

We had a piece of equipment show up in the office that was packed in a soft, pink, eggshell foam that was perfect to cut into pieces to fit into the RSS boxes. I cut them just a hair oversize so that they stay in the lid when I open the case, and they are really soft and compress nicely with just a bit of pressure on the cartridges in the box.

The two boxes we use are the MTM R-100 and the J&J BR-100.

The MTM is somewhat big, but you can carry the rounds nose-up or nose-down in a plastic matrix that protects the tips. Ample spacing between the rounds makes it easy to pull the ammo during record fire. Since we often shoot 70+ rounds, plus sighters) in a match, we like the 100-rd capacity. If you store rounds nose-down, little fingers grab the bullets and they won't rattle. Since the matrix supports the cases, there is some extra room in the bottom. In hot weather we'll put a thin, pleated "cool-pak" in the bottom of the case. MTM R-100s cost $8-$9 from most vendors. Available in red or green.

The J&J case is much more compact, and half the price. Fit can be a little tight with the 100+gr VLD bullets, but overall, it is a good case to store a lot of ammo in a fairly compact package. Item BR-100, $3.95, red, blue, smoke or white.
