Am I nuts???

The reason I say this is because I want to build a long range hunting rifle using a sako finnlight 85. my plan would be to buy a long action sako and convert the barrel to a 6.5x284.

is this nuts? would i be better off just getting a custom? please give me some pros/cons and if this seems feasible, who would you recommend to perform this work?

thanks guys!!

I dont think you are nuts by any means, but i suggest that you look at COST.

Do you already own a Finnlight 85?Are you going to be truing up the Sako action or leaving as is. And the cost of re-barreling the rifle.

Vs

A complete custom action, barrel, stock and other hardware.

Also are you willing to shell out that kinda cash and still want more in the end out of your rifle. Just be sure that you are not building a money pit that take more cash to get it right that it cost to get a custom.

But i think your best bet to search the around and find a rifle that someone is selling for a good price, that will take little bit of effort to get where you want it

Take a look on benchrest central as there are alot of decent deals on retired bench guns to convert to your needs.
