Am I going in the right direction with my load development??

I changed bullet and powder combo in my 6XC. I did a 3 shot ladder string @ 600 yards and had a very good node from 42.3-42.6. So I loaded 3 shots of 42.3, 42.4, 42.5 and 42.6. I shot a group test at 300 yards. After I shot it it looks like a make shift OCW at 300 yards. 42.6 is the best group, but with that am I in the node I need to be?

I would suggest loading another 10 rounds of 42.6 and shooting two 5 round groups. Vertical is collapsing as you go from 42.3 to 42.6.

Are you loading at the range? If not, is there any way you can load at the range?

ladder test are great for possibly finding one node. But there are other variables involved. If you load at the range, you can duplicate the findings immediately in more or less the same conditions by shooting five shot groups.

three shot groups will get you in the ball park, but sooner or later you will have to shoot Groups with what ever number of shots your Discipline requires.

What powder and bullet are you using? Seating depth? Velocity? I am interested because I also load for the 6xc

The center of the POI for last two loads are the same. What was the chrono data on those? I would be looking for the widest load range that the POI was similar. On my 6XC, my POI was the same from 37.0 to 37.5. I load at 37.2 because that gives me consistently low SDs (5-9).

Try 42.8 and play with your seating depth....it will get better still.
Yes do load up 10 more and confirm your data....nice work by the way.
