Aluminum stocks vs laminated stocks

I was thinking about building a rifle this year with Gary Eliseo's S1 stock that uses a savage action. Will I get more accuracy out of an aluminum stock than I would with laminated stock? What would be the advantages and disadvantages between the two.

The gun would be used as all around gun, used for informal bench shooting, hunting, and position shooting

My impression after several years of considering the options:

1) Tube gun is potentially less expensive for a detachable mag gun and shoots great

2) Hope you can keep track of all your adjustments - for me, less is more

3) My laminated stocked gun shoots 3/8 - 1/2" all day long. As long as I have my 3-way butte plate I'm good. Then again I do not cant the gun in position.

4) Almost everyone who shoots the tube guns seem to love them. Plenty of T2Ks for sale at any given day.

Good Luck!

Gary's S1 isn't really a tube gun. It's a chassis with a tube front. So the action mounting is about the same. Gary shot very well with it at the AZ long range championships in 6BRX I think. I don't think he could make the barrel nut work in a sleeve properly.

IMHO go the Remington route in Gary's R1 stock. Sleeving an action never hurts. I have a Stiller Predator in an R1 stock and I'm very happy with it.

I assume by hunting you mean varminting. The rig would be a little heavy for stalking.

I believe the problem was more the bolt release and the huge chunk that would have to be relieved from any sleeve to make it work.

At any rate... it certainly seems to have worked out okay, judging by his results ;)

I see said the blind man. I didn't get why the the nut couldn't live in the front tube. I just assumed the user got rid of the safety and bolt release just like you do in the R1 version.

From looking at it S1 kit.. It looks like a similar set up of the T2K. Action just bolts to the recever. I also have read that Garys gun does not have the barrel nut on it. But in his interview he said it would work with the barrel nut.
