Aluminum Bedding Block

I have a HS Precision stock with an aluminum bedding block and I was wondering if anybody has ever used thier action to lap in the bedding block. There is a nice even line on the action where it sits in the block all the way along the left side but on the right side and along the right side also except about the front third where there is no line at all . Thanks for any input.

I've never lapped the bedding blocks. I usually just skim bed them for a perfect fit.

pdog,

Do you prep the bedding block in any way to get the bedding compound to adhere better, or is it fine the way it is? Thank you

I've only done a couple. An HS Prec. stock, a B&C Medalist(or 2), and a Choate stock.
What I did was I sanded it down with my dremel to get to some fresh aluminum, mainly cause I didnt want any oils or anything to keep the bedding from adhering. I also drill small holes in it along the length and around the pillar area, which allows the bedding to fill in and helps it form a mechanical lock with the bedding block. Or atleast thats what I thought it would do.

Mine all seemed to work good, but also needed very little bedding.
