Alternative to Foxpro

Hey y'all just wanted to share my findings with everyone. If y'all all ready have a mp3 player or ipod this is a good way to go instead of a $500 foxpro. Buy a Dewalt or Milwaukee portable radio and spray paint it green. If you don't own any of those cordless tools all ready the Dewalt has a charger. Both have aux jacks that you can plug in a mp3 player to. I have a Dewalt and it sounds very good but the Milwaukee is probably better. To make it wireless buy a us robotics sound link. They can be battery powered and have a advertised distance of 1000 ft. I have tested it to 100' and it sounds great. They do not make them anymore but you can get them on ebay for around $30. Here is the link to their web site

Now just load your sounds from a cd to your mp3 player and sit back and play. Or play them from a cd player that is plugged into the sound link or straight into the radio.

The main advantage of the FoxPro is you can change sounds/volume with their remote. Can this still be done? If so I'm very interested. But then you still have to buy the sounds, unless you have a connection that will put you near their price.

Not trying to down your idea. Just trying to justify my next FoxPro purchase :D

You use your mp3 player just as you normally would but instead of playing on headphones it is playing on the radio. Sounds and volume is no problem. Assuming you all ready have a mp3 player the radio is around $100 and the sound link is around $30. If you shop around you can get them for less. You do have to buy your own sounds. Hope that helps.

Varmint Al has scads of sounds for varmints. No Charge!

A radio with a remote with volume, ability to change sounds and mute or pause the might be the cats butt.

Hey if there are any electrical gadget gurus out there you may be able to help make this even better. I plan on talking with an EE buddy of mine and pick his brain. All this is is a mp3 player hooked up to a radio's aux port by way of transmitter and receiver. The mp3 player is hooked up to a transmitter and the receiver is plugged into the aux port. Does anybody know of a transmitter and receiver that may give a longer range than 1000 ft and that can be battery powered? Does anyone know how to make one? I know this can be improved and like the idea that the separate components have a good use by themselves. Not to mention the cost savings. They sell FM transmitters for mp3 players but there range is limited to 30 ft by the gov. It would be great to have a reliable trans miter/receiver out to 500 yards.
