alliant reloader 15

I purchased a 5 lb jug of reloader 15 powder and when I got home I noticed the date is 2009. Is this powder still good ? Is it the same formulation as current powder ?

You should call Alliant and ask them. Have the lot number and all that handy for when they answer the phone. JME. WD

It depends on how it has been stored. If it was still sealed and stored in normal room conditions and smells and looks ok when you opened it is most likely ok. A lot of times people have old powder for sale and even sales at gun shows have old powder. I prefer not having the doubt.

I just looked at my alliant powder,10 different ones, I don't see a date on any of them.

this is a 5 lb jug and has the date April 8 2009. The 1 lb s have a date code. I talked to Alliant and did the three tests they said to do and all went very well so I take it the powder is good. I loaded 10 rounds to compare with the powder I had left and will see how they shoot. He also reminded me about the surplus powder from world war two that is being sold and used.
