Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR for 6 Dasher

I shot there of each at 32, 32.7, 33.5, 34 and 34.5 today to get some initial impression. In my 28" 7.5 twist barrel I got right at 2940 FPS with SD under 6 FPS. This is where my 32.8 Varget load is from same barrel. The Varget load is good but initial impressions of the 34.5 is that it was much more accurate as the three-shot group (fired on a steel plate for the feedback) was less than 1". I'm going to look at this more in depth for sure. I really do hate getting side tracked less than a month away from shooting my first 1000 yard IBS Nat's

So I guess you all are just supposed t know what yardage I shot today, huh?

It was 520 yards and all the 2000MR stuff was three shots each load. No, they didn't all shoot 1" groups.

Shot the 34.5 grain load yesterday at out local match. First two targets were almost identical; four in the ten-ring and one eight. I turned two 2" groups into 3.5 and 3.9" but scored 48. My fault for not annealing the 15 pieces fired in testing the day before (won't do that again).
Second two were 2.058 and 2.099 with 50 and 49 points.
I'm going to keep moving forward on this and plan to try my newly chambered barrel with this powder too.

What distance was this match?

I'll be going back to the range, hopefully Wednesday, with more 34.5 plus ten each of 35 and 35.5 grains. The 35.5 isn't even close to 100% fill so if these show promise I will keep moving up.
At 34.5 grains I gained only about 5FPS over my normal 32.8 Varget loads and the SD was only 1 FPS better than with Varget.
While I am just over 2900 now I am really hoping to get to the 3000 FPS mark from my 28" 5R barrel without having pressure issues.

Where do you think a mild fire forming load would be with mr2000 and 105bergers or 107 smk's
Are you fire-forming Lapua or the Norma 6 Dasher brass?
If lapua 6BR are you using a false shoulder of hard bullet jam method?
I will say the 100 Norma 6 Dasher bras I have is well short of where my fired rounds show headspace and my headspace is set at .0001 if I remember correctly. For that reason I would likely fire the first time with 33 grains 2000MR. It is going to be very low on pressure but I think you will get better brass life by actually going easy on the first firing and then just under the max on the second. Just my opinion tho.
For false shoulder Lapua I just don't know. I always use "junk" bullets and powder and that means my fire-form is done with lower weight bullets.

Well

Well, it's a brx chamber and I use the false shoulder. I always shoot a mild load on the first firing.

Back to the range today with more 2000MR loads. I opened a new lot of powder so I started back at 34.5, then 35, 36 and 36.2. Still no flattened primers, cratering, etc and SD is holding below 7 on all loads. My barrel has about 750 rounds now and the 36 grain load averaged 3016 FPS with the 36.2 averaging 3046 FPS on 105 Hybrids. Groups at 520 are still looking good as 36 grains shot right a 1 1/2" five-shot with about 3/4" vertical in some switching wind today. I am sure there is still room for more here but don't have time to find it before the nationals at Cool Acres.

Experimented with this powder in my 6.5x47 yesterday with 140 hybrids. It shows great velocity promise as i ended at 2,920 FPS out of a 28" bbl (Magnetospeed). For comparison's sake my accuracy load of H4350 is 2,735 fps with 39.2 gr. I started at 37gr of this stuff and it was already at 2,755. Will load some at 2,850 and 2,900 and see how it shoots.

From my little experience with 6.5x47 I'd say that 2920 is a big number! My next project is a 28" 6.5x47 for my Stiller P1000 but I was thinking on RL16 if I get some soon.

I agree on both fronts. Yes, it's fast & yes, RL16 sounds just about perfect for 6.5x47L. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get a load that rivals the accuracy of my H4350 load with this PP 2000-MR. I have my doubts because most things that seem too good to be true normally are. There's a lot to like about the 2000-MR - cheap, made in the USA, meters well & most of all, it's available!

I've got a bunch of it and am considering trying it in my 6.5x47 with Berger 130's. Not really sure where to start but saw where a few folks ended up around 42

I think starting at 37 makes sense. 42 seems pretty hot. I stopped earlier than that with a 140. Go slow and be careful. Let us know how it goes.

Shot 36 grains with 105 Hybrids at 1000 yard nationals. My first IBS 1000 yard match and my HG wasn't the best. Never shot ten-shot groups before, especially at that distance. I did get 4th in LG Group and 5th LG Overall. Also shot small group of 1.864". The 6 Dasher is an amazing cartridge and 2000MR can give it more velocity without pushing pressures to the max.
