Alliant AR-Comp data???

There is not too much data on AR-Comp that I can find even from the Alliant web site. Have any of you used this powder in the AR platform in 223 Rem with 55 gr bullets? I have a friend that bought some and I need a ball park idea of where to start and work up for his AR.

I would start at 23.0 grains and work up if it were me trying this powder. I took there sierra load and deducted 10 percent and arrived at the 23.0 grains of ar-comp.

If you read this article, I think that you will have all of the info that you need, given that there is so much Varget data available. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2011/03/new-ar-comp-powder-from-alliant-details-revealed/

It's a little faster than Varget. The only load I can remember off the top of my head is 23.4gr of AR-Comp, Wolf SRM, Winchester brass, and a Berger 70gr VLD loaded to magazine length (2.255").

2506,
I see in my test database that we worked up a load for the Sierra 55grHPBT. It was tested at 2.240"OAL with Fed brass and a 205 primer, and the MAX load was 25.6gr. That is a MAX LOAD, and it yielded 3359ft/sec from our 24" SAAMI test barrel. Back that to about 23.0gr and work up from there.
Good luck with the AR-Comp(TM). As you probably know, that powder is very temp stable and delivers low sd's and great accuracy (typically). I hope it works well for you in your application.
Shoot well,
Paul

Listed are maximum loads. Reduce by 10% for a starting load.

Yup, +1 to above!

I've found this powder does very well out of my 20" wylde chamber.
I'm at 22.0 with a 77 Sierra to 2.260"
