All around stock?

I know, I know... no such thing. I am looking for a stock that'll ride the bags well on the bench without sacrificing too much when I shoot off-hand. Right now the plan is to cheap out on a boyds varmint thumbhole and mill a flat into the front similar to the 300wsm that was on the daily bulletin about a month ago. I also plan on modifying the butt end so that it sits lower and better fits my rear bag.
Any of you know of any other stocks that'll do the same?

The thumbhole stocks I've seen all tended to ride the rear bag, well crappily. The bottom of these weren't in line with the bore because of the relief needed for the grip.

I've seen some variants of the a5-a3 McMillan stocks that look like they would fit the bill, just find one without the tactitard hook and get a low forend and you should have what you are looking for. Joel Russo makes something like that but then you are getting into custom stock prices.

McMillan or Brown Anschutz Silhouette style is killer off hand and not bad on the bags.... IMHO...

I have added a 3" aluminum plate (Whidden Tracking Plate) to the fore end of my H-S Precision silhouette stock in an effort to get it to ride the front bag well. The action is still at the smith's so I don't know how well the plate alone will allow for good bag riding. I am concerned about the rear bag but don't know what the final resolution will be.

This is a stock that I make that will use a 3" wide bag up front and I use a edgewood 2 stich in the rear and it works very well. I also carry it groundhog hunting and the 3" forearm is not in the way and its no longer than a standard mbr stock. It works very well for off hand shooting.
