Alcan Powders. AL5

Anyone still remember the old Alcan Powders? I still got 5 lbs. of AL 5 pistol and shot shell powder and it still looks good to me. Used in 357 loads for plinking back in late 70's. Last time i loaded it i forgot how dirty those old powders where.

I have a little bit of 5,7 each but about 12lbs of 8. I load 357 with 158gr SWC with al8. The other 2 powders I don't have enough to mess with. I just used up my last S&W/Alcan sp primers about a month ago.

AL 5 was the first powder I ever loaded in a shotgun shell, way back in the early '70s.
With Canuck paper hulls, wads and all #5 shot.....The Peters paper
hulls got the buckshot and punkin' balls. Something about the smell
of them fired paper hulls and Alcan.

I was loading the red paper Winchester 20ga. or Green Remington 20ga. paper hulls but I was using #5 shot.
