ALCAN LR Primers

Guys -

I've been given a case of Alcan LR primers. My friend bought them around 1980 or so. He never used them, so he gave them to me. They've been stored well and look factory fresh.

Anyone ever use these type of primers? What's your opinion of them?

Any reason I shouldn't use thhem?

Thanks-

Bayou

Still have 30-06 ammo that I loaded with Alcan's back in the late 60's (I was a reloading pup then) every New Years I puoll out a box of the old stuff and fire it off to see how 4o to 50 year old ammunition holds up and as of last New Years it all went BANG.
3 more days for this years test firing but I suspect it too will fire just fine.

Use what you were given. if you are desirous of accuracy loads just work them up like you would with any component change.

I have about 500 small Pistol Alcan primers left that I purchased new. I still use them in pistols where applicable and they all go bang. I also have a few CCI primers from the 70's that still get used where applicable and they also go bang. I say, no worries

I still have CCI's in the wood slats and the last time I used them, I made the mistake of loading .223 for an ar-15 and I have 14 tiny little burn marks in the bolt face. So I just have them for part of my collection of old stuff. The problem with them was they probably are too hard and brittle so I use them in 32-20.
