Alaska ammo sales?

I read a article in the Bulletin that my understanding was that online sale of ammo in Alaska is illegal. Can anybody shed any light on this? Am I understanding this correctly?

If you do a Google on “how to purchase ammunition online if you live in Alaska” you’ll get so help. I’d post a link, but this way you can get all kinds of help.

You can ship it to Carlile in Seattle and they'll truck it up. At least to the mainland. SE AK would have to go to Alaska Marine Lines to be barged up. They have minimum costs and its not cheap!

One issue with trying to ship ammo, powder, primers, etc here is you are paying double hazmat fees. I buy powder from a gentleman that sells from his house here in SC Alaska. He told me you have to pay a hazmat to get it to port in WA, and then another hazmat fee from WA to AK. As far as going through Carlile trucking now, they’ve caught on and are stopping many of the shipments in WA I’ve heard. The issue is the barge has a limit of what can legally go on them. I know for powder the regulations is 400 lbs of powder max per barge.

If true, this is the kind of crap that we should get worked up about. It’s not about safety or anything worth spit. It sounds like the “Decision Makers” are doing anything they can to disrupt our 2nd
Amendment rights. :mad::mad::mad:

My understanding on why they have stopped some of it, is that the buyers were not being honest to Carlile about what was being shipped. All of it is going on a barge to get here. It's not a problem shipping ammo, etc, to a FFL dealer. The issues were people or groups of people getting together making large purchases, sending it to Carlile and not being truthful about it.
