AICS or PTG box Mag conversion?

Ok I have decided to make the fast twist 243 I am building a mag feeder. I have a nice laminated thumbhole stock. I am looking for advice. I see midway sells AICS conversions and also PTG. Do any of you have a recommendation. Or would you suggest factory ADL hardware. I am open to options. If you think I am making a mistake doing this let me know. I like the tactical look and think it might be cool. It isn't cheap. This is on a REm 700 action. I am building to shoot DTAC 115 BN coated bullets. I have everything including bullets except my bottom metal. Give me your feedback! Thanks.

check stockys web site they sell the ptg bottom metal with or without magazines. Alpha industries manufacturing makes 10 round AI style mags that are a little shorter . I have 2 and the feed well

PT&G sells both AICS and BDL style bottom metal. The PT&G AICS bottom metal is probably the least expensive of the various brands available.

If you need a fast reload for your use cases, put a mag conversion on it. Make sure the mags will handle the loaded length. Otherwise go with ADL

CDI Precision is another choice, very nice product and Jeff does real nice inletting for stocks. He is now a member here, and a real good guy. His bottom metal uses AICS mags and he has a nifty little derlin block that fits the mag well so you can single load when ever you wish. His bottom metal is aluminum and very well made, customer service is beyond excellent. That's my opinion. ..Danny

Another vote for Jeff Allen at CDI who builds a great product and best of all his service is way above board.

Check all bottom metals for the magazines that they use. Several use AI mags and others use proprietary magazines.

I have run the PTG bottom metal for five years on a custom rifle I built based on a Savage action. I also purchased 5 round and 10 round AI magazines (.308) from PTG. When I first received the magazines they were unusable because the spring was so tight that the top round wouldn't slide out of the magazine into the chamber. I reduced the spring tension by cutting leafs off of the internal spring and then reshaping it. I also adjusted the feed lips because I was shooting 260 rather than .308.

My experience with PTG has not been good. If you go that way be prepared for a lot of messing with it to get it to work. Don't expect any help from them. You get what you pay for.
