AI magazine problem

I'm having a little issue with an Accuracy International brand AICS magazine for the 308 Win cartridge. These are considered a double-stack, single-feed design. When the top cartridge is pushed forward, the rim portion of the cartridge case gets hung up on the back end of the magazine feed lips. With enough force you can push through this interference and its smooth feeding after that.

The one I'm having trouble with is a 10-round magazine. I have a 5-round mag that works fine.

Do any of you have an idea of why it's doing this?

Not with AICS Mags not even the cheap plastic Magpul variation. I have had the issue with some wildcat cartridges. I took a file and rounded it down to fix the problem.

If you’re going to run detachable mags, buy yourself a good feed lip tool. They’re about 20-30 bucks. Tune as needed. I have one for the house and one for the range.

A good sanding of the feed lips before you ever use them goes a long way, then just open and close the lips as needed.

Can you recommend a feed lip tool that works well?

Using calipers, compare the feed lips front to back with your 5 round mag. I'm guessing you'll need to open the front of the 10 round a small amount.

@ShtrRdy the MPA tool works well, here’s a link.

A little tweak goes a long way.

Sounds like a lip got dented during shipping or somewhere along the way. Easy fix with the tool, I guess. I’ve always been cheap and used pliers.

All of my AICS .308 mags need lip adjustment. I used the MPA tool to fix the lips I screwed up with a pair of pliers, (as chin hits chest in embarrassment)..... They work just fine now.
