AI Magazine Alternative

I was just looking to pick op a spare mag for my rifle. Surgeon bottom, metal and it has an AI mag in it. I can't believe the price for a spare, and the AI mags seem like they can be a little hard to find. Brownells lists an Accurate Mag as an alternative. It is in stock, and the price is a bit lower. Anyone have any experience with these? Not in any hurry and if the AI is better I will simply wait. I still can't believe the price.

I have/use Accurate magazines for WSM cartridges and they have worked OK, so far.

But, for most of my other stuff, I use AI magazines, and I use them a lot.

Exception is my LE rifle (an HS Precision HTR) which uses the HS Precision magazines (good rifle, so-so magazines which are also expensive).

IMO, you will not beat AI.

look at mcrees precision,or alpha industries. side by side with ai hard to tell difference.made in USA also, a plus in my book. jon

I use the Alpha Mag's that allow a little more room for seating depth. Some of the AI folks thought they'd break or something so I load up 10 rounds and threw them sky-high - about 6 times. no probs. I haven't had any feed issues but I don't have Surg DBM. If you do buy a different brand let us know how they work for you.

Thank you for the info. I will order an Alpha Industries Mag and let you know how it works. Interesting that they allow for a longer seating depth. That could come in handy,
