Ahhh, them good ol' days

Roger, Josh still loves West Virginia. He said conditioning and running in the cold is tough. He is pretty happy with the players they got on National Signing Day.
I found a box of bullets from Ted Holmes gunshop in Matoon, Il.

Butch,,,,good to know Josh is doing well,,,I followed him thru the yr,,,his kicking is improving always,,,,I hope to see you at a match in the future,,,,Roger

In the 70s I shot trap, bought Red Dot powder in 15 pound kegs. I have an empty I still use for a waste basket, it has the price of $32.50 on it.

I have some boxes of remington .22 rimfire marked 19 cents each. That is a 1.90 per brick or 19.00 per case.What the heck has happened to reasonable pricing. Its simple stuff costs more and they raise the price accordingly.No ,I think it is big corporations that buy up the smaller companys and the bean counters get it in their head that the numbers are wrong for the investors and they keep raising the price to cover losses.The loss is a profit index for share holders.So if their personal profit dips slightly,up go the prices.

When I first started driving gas for the family car was maybe $.20 - .25 a gallon for months at a time. Then a 'gas war' would come along, drive prices down some. Once I recall it hitting $.07 but that didn't last long... rose to something like $.12 soon.

I was making $1.50 an hour in a hospital kitchen, taking dishes off the washer racks. Thought I'd be rich before school began again.

I received a carton load of bullets from a friend of mine who recently passed away. There were many interesting bullets. The boxes which interested me in particular were the old Sierra bullets and the price tags on them. I'm assuming these were dated in 1972 according to the stock number. A box of Sierra .30 caliber, 130 grain Spitzer boat tails were originally $8.30 with their sale price of $7.22, and another box of Sierra 6mm 75 grain Hollow Points were $7.55 and sale price of $6.63. The old Sierra bullets are still in the original card board box with edge rivets. There is even a box of old Herter's bullets .243 100 grain semi-pointed. I guess this just goes to prove to everyone how old we are all getting.

I clearly remember some of Herters bullets had written on the box,,"Super Wasp Waist Sonic Missile Tail". Everything they had was the best, ( so was advertised) I still have a small catalog of theirs along with some long shank
#8 hooks made in England.

jam711, If you will read above you will find a couple of us has some of the Herters Wasp Waisted bullets at this time.

Speaking of Herters, I bought a lot of stuff from them. I wish I would have kept a couple of their catalogs, everything was hyped to the max.

I have some Griffin and Howe 22-3000 brass and some of it formed in R2 Lovell. I have some old Hodgdon powders in H240, H320, and H375.

Butch;
I did. But I didn't see the "sonic missile tail " attached. ;D I've also got 3-1# tins of RL-11 that looks as good as when I bought it back then in the 6o's. No rust, no foul smell. $3.50 a can is what I paid. Gonna burn it up one of these days. Buchtels got some too.

They had the fine Mauser actions for like $179. If I recall, they were called "J"something.

Just a few years ago I gave my OLD Lee Loaders to a friend of mine. One was a .270 and the other was a .300 Win Mag. The prices listed on them were $9.95! Believe it or not, with my .270, I had some of my most accurate loads. I had a Browning A Bolt>>the first year they came out with it. That rifle shot (at 100 yards) with 140gr Ballistic Tips, an 11 shot group that measured 15/16th of an inch! Not bad for a hunting rifle! But LOOK a the price of accuracy $9.95! UNreal!! LOL!!!
I started with one of those in 1967. I think that is what they were going for several years in a row.
