Aguila Super Extra problem

I was shooting my old single shot today. It's my skunk and armadillo getter. It was not shooting right; the old weaver k4 had give up the ghost. Put a redfield on it and the 5th sighter shot got a very loud report and crap blown back in my face. so glad I was wearing glasses.
Finally got the bolt out. The extractor was sprung badly, and a lot of burnt powder in an around the bolt head. Case head has blown out at the rim in about a 60 degree arc.
I've owned this gun for 58 years. It has fired a lot of rounds of all kinds. First ever problem it has ever had of any kind.
No more Aguila ammo for me.
Maybe one a million, maybe not. A heads up for everyone.

Save that burst case! Photo it from multiple angles and keep the photos. Call, then email Aguila and discuss it with them. Save the rest of the ammunition too.

I have always firmly believed that if you ever suspect a problem with any product-you need to contact the vendor first! No reason at all to trash them on the innerneck without giving them the opportunity to address the problem.
No bashing; just a report. If someone else has a problem with these rounds it might be noteworthy to the company. Or it might be just an isolated incident. Have fired lots of their ammo. Sent them an email, no reply yet.
There was no "trashing on the innnerneck".

That's good from one okie to another.

We've cycled a case and a half through my wifes sb lever gun she shoots in NRA SBLA. Never had a single problem.

Not to say there couldn't be an issue with any ammo.... but that hasn't been our experiance.

Had a friends 3P Anschutz rifle literally blow up, bolt broke in half... Sent rifle and ammo to ANA... they blamed Eley, Eley blamed Anschutz.... they warrantied the bolt but not with out a lot of pissing and moaning... who was at fault?

have been in email touch with the company. will send photos.
Don't know how this will play out; never done this before.

Something to consider also is chamber cleanliness. I have a 40x with a tight chambered aftermarket match barrel. I shot a lot of Lapua Midas and CenterX through it, and tried some Polar Biathlon at a .atch I shoot. Had issues extracting, and thought it was just worn extractors. Anywho...I had an experience like you describe, with mine it blew the extractor from the bolt, punched a neat hole in the case, etc. I was less than thrilled with that ammo, and wad ready to blame it. Then figured I should put the bolt back together first with new extractors, since I figured they were elderly and Lapua makes good ammo. I did, and still had sticky cases in and out, loaded. So even though it looked clean, I set out to polish the chamber and throat. Short version, it must have had some probably carbon, maybe lead build up constricting the case and preventing expansion on firing. It's functioning perfectly now with all ammo, and shooting as well as ever.
