After two years...

Stick to original plan, do it while his asleep and (" SUPRISE") in the morning ! And don't forget to send him my best !! :D

Snert I know and feel your pain. I haven't been able to hunt for the past 8 years because of low back and leg pain.
In 1995 for lack of a better term I broke my lumbar spine while fighting a structure fire ( missed a flight of 21 stairs and landed on air pack. Now after 8 surgeries they tell me it is not repairable and I have to live with the constant nerve pain in my legs and back and to make it worse the constant in balance has destroyed my knees.
On top of this I have been told I have a form of bladder cancer ( doing treatments now) and I am saddled with being the care taker for my 96 year old mother who is in mid stage dementia.
I would give almost anything to get back out in my tree stand for a season of bow and or rifle hunting.
At 67 going on 101 I can and do know all you are going through all I can say is the cross we have been given to bear is heavier at times than other but hang in there, they tell me it gets easier with time.

That 40x is gorgeous.

1970's with a Hart, Vais Brake, walnut stock painted with a paint similar to Imron (shoulda seen it before it was dropped on floor during color sanding...i wanted it to look like it was dipped in ox-blood and stood up, lighter to darker and it was...but fumble nuts dropped it and we had to start over with a different paint...what we had on hand and it ended up maroon/purple). A local Rubbermaid machinist made a buttplate and filled the forearm groove. It was painted about 25 years ago. Few dings and swirls now, but a good buff would make it pop again. Danged slippery though! Thanks for the comment.

Got my 22-K-Hornet barrel back after some "mods" and loaded up some annealed brass tonight. Going to test three "inexpensive" bullets in the fireform process, and confirm that the "mods" didn't harm the accuracy. I somehow don't think it will at all.

i picked tomorrow cause it is gonna be in th e90's and want to replicate Oklahoma...hear that my Coyote friend?

report later....

well I checked out the K-Hornet. It grouped at about one inch with 12.3 grains lilgun fireforming. I tried 40 grain vmax, 35 grain vmax and 34 grain dogtown. The dogtowns shot at 1 inch, the rest about 1 1/4. Much more consistent round group with the dogtowns. Again, fireforming. The barrel extension has certainly changed harmonics a bit, so i will be fiddling with the dogtowns and developing a new load. I ran my former already fireformed load through it and it grouped oddly. It was shooting about 1/2 inch, but it is clear that things have changed a bit. Not too bad though. don't regret extending that barrel at all cause it sure is easier to shoot a carbine than a pistol!!! Happy with that overall, as this is a 200 yard gun and I was busting PD size rocks at will.

The good news is I tried another load in my 17FB with some 20 grain bullets and it finally started to shoot. Groups all at 1/2 inch. Happy Happy. It certainly warms up faster than the K-hornet though.

Just ordered 500 224 Dogtowns and 10 new Berry's ammo boxes, different color, so I can keep things organized. Time to load up a pile of 22 hornet to use fireforming on PDs.
