I've been at it a while-44 years doing it seriously and keeping records. Between me and coyotes eastern WV is getting thinned greatly. Right at 13,900 with handguns only.

Thanks for the reply WV Hitman, I always read you posts on the specialty pistol forum.

I went out this morning for the first time this year my 60th years hunting groundhogs in Penna. It was a nice morning for weather and hunting I shot 6 groundhogs with my .223 Tikka 8 twist barrel using 69gr. STMK, the other rifles I will use this year are a Sako 222 and a Rem. 700 Krieger barrel 22x47 Lapua.

I shot my first Pa groundhogs when I was eight. Now I am 72. It was with my friends fathers M70 .243 off a forked stick stuck in the ground just a little over 200yds. a what we called the big field. Farm owned by twin brothers, only one still living. Use to go help them milk so they could be in the woods before daylight in deer season. Now the sons run the farm and the big field contains buildings with thousands of little pigs. For years I hunted ground hogs hard and loved the accuracy game, went from small bore position, to a bit of across the course, to shilloute, and finally to benchrest. Then as farm land shrunk discovered groundhogs shoots. GREAT. All the shooting a guy can take. From my first 340 Savage .222 with a 6x Lyman All American when I was 13 to the custom benchguns I shoot now it has been much fun, met some great people, and L would not trade it for millions of dollars. So all you old guys who lost your hunting fields or don't walk so good any longer, drag that old groundhogs killer out and come shoot some paper ones.

Hello everyone I finished my 60th groundhog season and ended up with 72 groundhog kills, I usually hunt 7 farms but 2 were not cut this year so I only hunted five farms and probably 85% of the kills were on 3 farms. I have been only keeping records for 4 years and have shot 330 groundhogs on the 7 farms, I will have to find a few new farms as I have them thinned out pretty good. My go to gun this year was the 223 Tikka with the 69 gr. TMK longest kill was 409 yards with the Tikka 223. If everything goes OK I will be out there next year for my 61st season.
