Aesthetics or Functionality

I’m running Talley one piece mounts on two 2500X actions. I told Talley they fit but I don’t think they updated their website. I can get a mount number if you’re interested. I prefer one piece mounts on everything. Less screws to come loose.

Whats complicated about a pic rail ? Its fewer pieces than dovetails. It allows more mounting flexibility.
Unneeded for any BR, ugly, always potential for misalignment, for weight class guns unneeded weight , you will never see one on a CFBR gun.

Those are elegant, have some BAT one piece but frankly when it’s time for serious maintenance or barrel swaps they’re a PIA. Dovetail bases, rings, pretty reliable and if you ever need to swap scopes pretty idiot proof, that’s what all my RFBR guns wear.

How do you misalign a ONE PIECE item? Thats literally impossible. Now TWO dovetail mounts could be misaligned.

Weight, weight class, "unneeded" have nothing to do with aesthetics.

Never seeing a pic rail on a CFBR is irrelevant.

Your only salient point is YOU think they are ugly. Which is fine. I disagree.

And its indisputable pic rails are highly functional, adjustable, allow for more mouting options and are impossible to misalign

Impossible? Study up there sharpshooter.
You know how often don’t fit properly because action holes are often less than exact.
Usually why high precision outfits usually run two piece systems with rings either bedded or lapped in.
You’re playing “sniper” ringing a gong is one thing, set up for BR, entirely another.
Much to learn, you do.
P.S. read the OP, he ruled out a rail, I got zero skin in the game.

There's no need to start calling me names like "sharpshooter" , sir. Show yourself the respect of not going there. Ok ? And there's no need to insult me with terms like "playing sniper." You don't know my capabilities and you don't know my accomplishments and you don't know the quality of my equipment. You don't know anything about me , sir.

It's wrong of you to presume to make yourself my teacher.

Its all beneath dignity. So stop it.

Now....

If the actions screw holes are out of alignment , that's not the problem of the picatinny rail. The action is garbage and the pic rail is fine. And if the action screw holes are out of alignment , every single mount, dovetail or picatinny one piece or two pieces are going to be out of alignment.

But all else being trued up, it is 100 % impossible to misalign a one piece item.

As a newby I get to ask some really dumb questions without too much backlash. While my new 2500X is being assembled, I have been looking at accessories needed to complete the gun. I really don't like the look of the full picatinny rail, looks too large for the action. I did see a dovetail mount that is aesthetically pleasing but, how functional are they. Seems the selection of scope rings with a dovetail base are really limited. What base mounts are all y'all using?
I use a Savage S/A 20 MOA EGW picatinny rail and cut it down as I only mount it to the front receiver ring. and bed the base to the action you can get them for around $40.00 works great.

Well now, that’s not something you see every day.
May one assume you subscribe to the BC “ action expansion/ scope distortion “ theory?

Tim,

I started doing that with my custom actions because of how well my 1411 Anschutz shoots and I was forced to mount the scope on the rear of the receiver of that rifle since it doesn't have a dovetail groove on the front. BC had mention front or back as long as it doesn't bridge the port.
Not sure if distortion of the action or scope really does occur but it seems to work. but if you think about it most rifles are bedded with pillars front and back so if the action is stressed from a change of the stock material between the pillars it may just distort it. I wouldn't have that problem as I bed with a one-piece steel bar no gap between action screws. so, if it shifts in the stock, it will be as one piece with no distortion.
