AEDC 100 yard Reduced Course High Power Rifle Match May 7, 2016

There will be a 100 yard Reduced Course High Power Rifle Match on the AEDC GP Range Saturday May 7. Registration at 9 and shoot at 10. This will be an opportunity for our beginners and new shooters to get some more experience in preparation to move up to the full course range and our experienced shooters to get in some practice and help mentor a beginner.

Are you going to have any f class smallbore matches?
The short answer is no.

The longer answer is that the MidSouth Marksmen club runs Mid Range (600 yards) and Long Range (1000 yards) F Class matches on the AEDC KD Range. These matches also accommodate NRA conventional prone shooters. The Highland Rim Shooters Club runs XTC matches on that range. The Highland Rim Shooters club also runs reduce course high power rifle training and reduced course matches on the AEDC GP range to help folks learn the sport and get ready for the full course matches. Many years ago there were smallbore prone matches run on the GP range but there is no one willing to do that any more.

There are a lot of ranges suitable for F Class smallbore and they can be great matches, it just takes someone to lead and leaders are hard to find. If you are interested in F Class smallbore look for a suitable range and consider leading, get a couple of friends to help and you will be glad that you did.

OK Thanks If anyone knows of clubs or ranges interested if f class smallbore, let me know.I think this is a class that can draw shooters,if someone holds the matches

I am sure that either club would be more than welcoming if you wanted to organize these matches for them. Just let us know and we will put you in contact with the right people.

The 100 yard reduced course XTC match yesterday on the AEDC GP Range went great with perfect weather. We had a good mix of experienced and new shooters and there were some good scores shot. The match was won by some old guy with a vintage military service rifle. This was our first reduced course high power rife match on this range and we found it to be a great range for this type of match. The Westerfield Enterprise brought their target frames for us to use until we build our on. We now have reduced course training and matches at Gallatin, Pelham and AEDC; the reduced course event is a great venue for developing new shooters for XTC on the full course KD range at AEDC. Some of the new shooters are making plans to travel to Oak Ridge and some of the other ranges in the region as well as Camp Perry.
