The Elk River Rifle Club ran its first NRA Approved National Match Course reduced match at the Elk River Training Center range in Pelham TN today. This club was formed in response to interest generated by a Mark Long High Power Rifle Beginner Clinic run on the Elk River Range last year. The new club already has about forty members interested in High Power Rifle competition and Appleseed training. There was a good turnout and mix if experienced and beginner shooters from the area. Randal Boston came over the mountain from Kemble, several folks came down from Monteagle and several others from the middle TN area including representatives from the Highland Rim Shooters Club. There will be a another NMC reduced match at the Gallatin range next Saturday April 16. There will be an XTC 80 shot match on the full course range at the AEDC KD Range on May 1 run by HRSC and also a beginner friendly reduced course match on the AEDC GP range run by HRSC on May 7.
