Advice with binoculars....

My father wants to buy a really nice pair of binoculars for me, and he’s looking at the Swarovski EL in 10x42. However, says he’ll get me the ones I want. I’m looking at the Leica Noctovid’s, also. Any thoughts? Am I not considering something I should be? Thanks

What are you going to use them for? If for hunting, consider a pair of rangefinding binocs, they will allow you to get a range on the target.

If for birdwatching, you spend a lot of time looking through them, so good binocs are a must. Both of the units you mentioned should be great for that.

I use a pair of Lieca 10x42 rangefinding binocs for prairie dog hunting, where you spend hours looking through the binocs, and they are wonderful. Much better than other lower cost brands which I have tried. ( I have not tried Swarvoski) I do not have the newest with the ballistic calculator, nor do I want them, as I use a ballistic calculator on my iPhone.

The more time you spend with the binocs to your eyes, the better binocs you should buy. If you can, go to a local store that carries the brands and try them on.

I've been considering the Noctivid myself. But every single review out there from any forum or blog states that the new model Zeiss Victory SF (Black) is a better binocular. Need to get my hands on them both to compare.

When considering top end optics, best thing to do is try them for yourself. They will all give you breathtaking clarity and resolution, but everyone's eyes are a little different and may prefer a certain feature in one manufacturers image over the other.
