Now, I dream of a Nightforce 12-42x 56mm NXS series scope, but the 1600plus dollars is impeding my ability to purchase it at this time. I also like the Nikon 4-16x 50mm Tactical model as well,however, I want more power then just 16x. I want something at least 25x for my rifle. My rifle is currently a Howa 1500s chambered in .223 and when I purchased the package deal about 4 years ago from a gun dealer it had 6-18x 40mm Tasco World Class on it. Now, I've always meant to change this out to something better but but on my College Student budget it has been hard. So right now I'm looking for advice on the Millet 6.5-25x 56mm 30mm tube Mildot Reticle Varmint Target scope. I know it's not the NXS, and it's not even the Nikon but it's a distinct move up in quality and capabilties I hope then the Tasco presently mounted on the rifle. Currently, I shooting out to 500yards because well one the range is only 500yards long and two the 1:12twist limits my bullet selection and makes any shooting longer then 500 difficult. Do people have thoughts or advice about the Millet scopes?

Just a thought - since I have no experience with the Millett scopes at all - consider hunting down a used 6.5-20x Leupold or even a fixed 24x Leupold. They're often available at considerably reduced prices, with a little shopping. Also, Leupold takes care of them, usually for free, if they need a little work.
BTW - I shoot long-range prone matches with a mere 12x Leupold,that I bought used) and the scope performs just fine.

Stay away from milette. I bought one about 1 yr ago and sold it the next day. The eye relief was too short and the field view was very small as well. I tried to save some money on my 17mag. I have all high end scope and thought Id give milette a try. I ended up with a Zeiss conquest. I also have 5 Nightforce scopes,Swarovski,Nikon and Leupold. For the money the Nikon is great but the next step up is the Conquest. Save your money and but the best scope you can afford. Its an investmeny you'll have the rest of your life. I do alot of long range hunting and some benchrest and its worth the money for good optics.

For my 6mm BR Long Range Prone rifle the scope will be a NF 12-42x 56mm NXS series when I'm not using Warner Iron Sights however for my little plinker I think the Burris you speak could be a great option.

The announcement was regarding honoring Premier modified scopes mod'ed before/after a certain dates. Since premier STOPPED mod'ing the scopes before that specified date, that means any Premier mod'ed Leupy is covered.
Though with power boosted scopes they need to go to Premier first...get de-boosted, and THEN sent to leupold,by premier)

The first scope had a problem with the side focus and was sent back to Millett. They shipped a brand new replacement scope which has worked fine. Other people may slam this scope but for $265, it was a good deal. I'm happy with the performance and quality and I think it's a good bargain. It's not a Nightforce or a Leupold, but you're not spending that kind of money either.

I would stay away from Millet!! i have a friend who bought one because he thought it was a good deal for the money. first one messed up, so they sent him a brand new one. well, that one messed up as well. he is now on his third one. it is good customer service, but with all of that happening there is not much room for confidence left. you can probably find a decent leupold used for that kind of money or just a little more. you would be better off keeping the tasco than buying a millet

What about the S&B Police Marksman II 5-25 x56mm 34mm Main Tube scope is that as good as the Nightforce Scope?

I think I'll continue to use my present scope and purchase a new Leupold 8.5-25x 50mm Target Model Vari-X III with my saved pennies. I figure that will be the best course of action.
I think a 8-25x50mm by Doctor Optic is a good bang for the buck, quality is as the any of the highend German made scopes, price is comfortable to the mid range Leupold.
I like my Zeiss a tab over than my Swarovski,then closely follow by the Doctor and the Leupold arein the distant 4th and I'll take factory open sight over any low end scope.
