Advice on buying a 6 Dasher BBL

Newbie here, need advice.

I have a 6BR with a Bartlien BBL, I want to buy, and have built a 6 Dasher BBl to swap with the 6BR.
I am thinking of buying the Bartlien BBL below.
Does anyone have any thoughts, pros or cons of buying this BBL for a 6 Dasher.
Any advice will be welcome, I shoot 600-1000 yds in small local matches.

Bartlien Specifications:
Caliber 6mm
Twist: 5R 1:7.5
Length: 30" Finished, Blank is 31"
Contour: 1.250" x 5.000" Straight, Taper to 1.00"
Bore/Groove: .237/.243
Approx. Raw Barrel Weight: 8.38 lbs.

This is the same barrel I recently bought. I was considering making a 29" one, but the consensus seems to be that 28" is the ideal length for the dasher.

I'm kind of partial to Brux HV. @28" but other makes turn out good barrels also and a little faster twist like 7.75 but 8 will work. I see no need for a length over 28" as i have no trouble reaching over 3100 FPS with 28" but it doesn't shoot that good…… I seen no difference in accuracy with a barrel marked .236 over one marked .237. I have had good in both, or close to both bore diameters. I do think the middle is where to be.2365, it's a mind game……. jim

I'm partial to Brux myself, Rodney's world record shot with one .336 at 600 yards ;D

I have the same barrel finished at 28" and it is fluted and it is starting to shoot really well for me. It came on the rifle I bought used and it is a shooter

I have the same blank sitting in my safe, I bought 2 one to finish at 30 and one for 28. I chose the 28 to start with.

I may sell the other one.

Larry, We make them longer. You just have to ask! And a few extra bucks!

The best dasher barrels are Kreiger 237 bore 1 in 8 twist 4 grooves cut 28". I am sure they hold more long range records than any other.

You sure about that?

P.S. I'm doing a 6 Dasher right now. 4 groove, .237" bore and 1-7.75 twist.

Alex, maybe it has to do with the conditions or lack of condition out there. I was looking at F class equipment and there sure are a lot Bartliens. Brux sure holds it's share of records at 600 and 1000. You can get a exceptional one in any make and also a bad one… maybe it has to do with freezing them, think about that…… jim

I have had good luck with Bartlein barrels and so has my son Paul. He set a "two gun group agg" record at Piedmont using a Bartlein in 2014 and we both have used Bartlein's during 2015. We are both in the top 20 in SOY points, so I think the Bartlein's are doing a fine job for us.

We have used Kreigers and Brux barrels over the years and have won matches with both of them, so IMHO they are all good. Comes down to loading and table manners and the weather when one is shooting. I feel like Sam Hall or Rodney Wagner could set down behind most any gun at Piedmont and be competitive.

Jim, what's the bore on your bruxs? Mine was .2355.

Tom

Tom, i can't believe they would let it out the door at .2355. I have a bunch but i would say an average is .2365 some were .2368 but just a couple. I sent one back for some tight spots and he relapped it ……. jim

Jim, I said 6mm dasher barrels. Bartlien may very well make a fine 7mm. Although if I was to build a 284 tomorrow it would have a Brux on it.

And as far as the lack on conditions, just look at our Championship match. A lot of top notch shooters show up, do they lay out 2" or 3" groups? Nope. If it was that easy they would do it. Some of these guys win big matches, but not this one. Think about that. Tom can get every barrel to shoot 2's. Because he works his *** off. I think the "hummer" comes froom doing barrels between centers. If you indicate them perfectly every time you get a lot more hummers. JMO.

Alex, you will get no argument on that point i do believe if done right helps and that loading will play a major factor in a hummer. garbage in garbage out…… it does take a lot of work to do it right. You can not leave anything on the table………. jim
