Advice needed on where to buy a Custom Action?

Hi All,
I kinda put my self in a bind, I bought my barrel before buying a action, I was and I am going to have built a custom rifle. My barrel has Remington threads.
I don't want to re thread I just want to find a short action for my 260 Ackley Improved barrel. The Custom action's I have seen on the net are real nice, but way out of my Budget! I have been looking for a Rem 700 action and if a person can find one they are $500.00, my thoughts most likely are wrong, but i think that is high?? I just sold a Super Nice Remington 700 AdL 7mag with 3x9 Refield scope for $500.00. My build is for my enjoyment, I will never shoot comp., so a single shot action would be fine, or any bolt action that is in good shape that has the right threads should work just fine.
I would be great full for any help!

Not as simple as just getting an action and screwing the barrel on. Lug thickness, and headspace, need a gunsmith to check everything. Post some questions and you will get some experienced advice and answers regarding this. Rem 700 truing action, LA orSA would work wtih a 250 AI, could seat your bullets out with a LA, AI may not feed so well from a magazine, just lots of questions that need to be answered before you just screew the barrel on an action and shoot it. safety factors are paramount.
