Advice needed on chamber/ rifling issue

This is a CHF factory barrel that will not group. I sent it back to the manufacturer and was told, 'it is within spec". It looks to.me like there is steel from chambering or cutting throat that has adhered to the lands?? Can this be removed? Am I way off thinking this is the issue? There are also pits in the grooves in places.

Seen it before. Dull reamer plowing, not cutting metal. May take several hundred rounds to wear it down. Maybe.

Send them copies of these images and ask them what specs they are using because there's nothing right about that.

I agree with the other posters but if you plan to fix it yourself, I'd bet the pits near the crown are of more detriment to accuracy than the throat issue. Cut it off enough to get rid of that and crown it. Cheap and easy if it works.

Agreed, but it should have never shipped like that to begin with. Poor quality control.

It’s quite interesting that the location of the pits is on the side of the groove where a flaked off piece of steel would imbed in the bullet. If you followed the pitted groove back to the throat it would be interesting if that land is now missing the steel booger hanging off it. Likewise, if the grooves that back up to the steel boogers are pit free.

I personally can’t ever remember seeing how an embedded piece of steel behaves as it‘s transported down the barrel - does it just leave a scratch, or can pieces tumble between the jacket and bore causing little dents?

I have no doubt the boogers will burn off as the throat erodes.

True, but I think it's a factory bbl, too...fwiw. Still shouldn't be that way but you know how it is with factory stuff. We pays our money and takes our chances, is about all you can say.

I don't wish to create a dispute with you personally so understand this is not directed to you personally.

My point is when you buy other goods if there is a manufacturing defect the vast majority of consumers will return it for replacement. So I am amazed that many firearms purchasers will say 'I got what I paid for.'

No, you didn't or it wouldn't be defective.

Name one other thing people buy and tolerate performance issues with and will bear the cost of repair or replacement correcting the manufacturing defect.

There isn't one.

Gene, that was my assumption but thought it could also be the initials of a brand of barrel I wasn't familiar with.

Some do but I would think the majority are buttoned.
