ADL to BDM?

Just looking for some advice, would it be possible to convert a Remington 700 short action ADL walnut stock to a Defiance XM length with a BDM bottom metal? I know it will probably be more work then what it’s worth but I’m going for a specific look.

Something like this? I did a practice run for a Badger M5 inlet on an old ADL stock to make sure I had all the inletting dimensions correct before I started cutting on an expensive tactical stock:

Yeah that’s the look I’m going for, the big thing is the action screw spacing is .25 inches longer than a Remington 700 short action. Would it be safer to get a long action and just plug the front screw hole?

I would buy remington compatible bottom metal. Ive never seen one .25 inches wrong

It’s the defiance machine xm length action that is longer than a short action 700 by .25” center to center for the screw holes. Its going to be a 300 wsm and I didn’t want to step up to a long action, but I did want to seat bullets out further than a short action could mag feed.

I guess that extra 0.25 is the wildcard. I assumed the Defiance XM was Remington footprint, but I looked it up. It's advertised as a "mid" action as opposed to short or long. Maybe defiance makes a DBM for it, otherwise, I don't know how you'd make this work with any off-the-shelf R700 compatible parts. BTW, Where in Illinois are you? I'm near St. Louis in Alton, IL.

XM length receiver- with AICS mag cut, you need Hawkins M5, XM length bottom metal.
Like Gene said, no bottom metal for M700's- short, or long- is compatible.

A lot of inletting work. Will your stock/barrel channel allow for the longer length? Keep in mind longer receiver+ inletting for lug, likely opening barrel channel as well. What "look" is it you're referring to- what type (wood/glass/composite) stock?

Something along these lines, but with a 22” barrel
