Adjusting tunner

It's my first time messing with a barrel tuner and just looking where to start or any tips. Also i can shoot up to 30yds indoors or would I be better off at 50 ?

I have one myself and from what I've been reading, start at the half way point. Like 5 if it goes to 10. Shoot and check your pattern. Adjust out a turn or less and see if it makes any difference. It's a "try me" thing. If you're shooting bug holes, don't bother with the tuner.;)

Rim fire shooting is so ammo dependent . It's not uncommon for a top shooter to spend
$ 15,000 on ammo a year . So tuners are used to adjust each lot
With a tuner with detents you will find one to 3 tunes per turn . Good luck Larry

That is a good write up and is pretty much how I tune with one. You must be very methodical. Moving several marks or even revolutions at a time is not being metodical. The most common mistake people make is making too large of adjustments. With my tuners(as well as most others), I recommend moving one mark at a time. If you move in any other increments, you are MOST likely to skip over a sweet spot. The sweet spots repeat and there are typically at least 1 per revolution on a rf and at least 2-3 per revolution with a cf rifle. It's really so simple that I can teach a 10 year old how to use a tuner in only a matter of a few minutes, given a known good gun and load. A big part of why, is that they haven't been told the wrong way to use a tuner for years and have no pre conceived notions. They're a clean slate, unlike most of us. --

The ONLY issue I have with a tuner is the amount of ammunition needed to find the correct setting for every single typ of ammunition I shoot. I have a setting for Lapua Center X, and another for Midas, then SK Rifle match etc... Took me a good 2-300 rounds for each setting to find it.

You can use the Purdy Prescription just search that online and will find the instructions , I have used it and got me real close. I sent my rifle to Dan Killough , Killough Shooting Sports and it is worth the money for them to do that. They do that sort of thing all the time. Top notch guys to deal with.
