Doc told me that I should shoot in as near upright, (spine and neck erect) position as I could to prevent more neck and spine injury.
I've no experience with rests as such, having always used bags in some motley assortment. I've looked at the ads for Caldwell rests and some others and can see where recoil certainly would be abated, and I can afford a portable shooting bench (probably would need leg extensions) and the seat could be set up at the proper height, but the rest solution eludes me.
Since I'm not a benchrest shooter I would like to avoid the mechanical marvels that are produced for that part of the sport (too costly) and stick with the more commonplace rests.
