I have some that I have loaded three times and it is still as good as new. No primer pocket expansion, cracks or other issues. When I got the first rifle chambered I had two boxes of Hornady factory ammo (one Match and the other hunting) for initial break-in and comparison purposes. I reloaded it once and after the second firing twenty-one pieces of the forty had issues with the necks. All twenty-one had cracks or stretch marks and 8 of them had splits. I called Hornady and sent hem pics. They were unable to offer any insight but happily sent me a package of fifty new pieces of brass to replace them. I still don't have a clue why this happened, as the chamber was done with the Hornady spec'd reamer from Manson. I used the Hornady dies (non bushing) for my reloading and have seen no problems since. How many loadings are you getting from your hornady brass?
It is very nice brass. Can't wait to load it up and try it. It is very expensive though; my 6.5PRC brass cost me $1.70/pc. shipped. On the plus side though, it was shipped in very high quality plastic ammo boxes packed with good foam to keep the brass from getting neck/mouth damage in shipping so I figure those were worth at least $4 each.I am glad to hear that the brass is good quality. Guess I'll have to break down and order some. Bonus is I prefer supporting a US company, not that I have anything against Lapua.
Glad to hear that they are double stamping the heads, it should make them harder.
Kind of my thought too. I usually need to cut some foam and put in the ammo boxes to keep fired cases from spilling around in the ammo boxes so the foam is a little bonus too. Just ordered 100 6.5 PRC, noticed it is exactly double the price of their 6.5 Creedmoor. Thought about ordering some of that too but have 800 virgin Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor so should be good on that for a while. It is very nice brass. Can't wait to load it up and try it. Keep campaigning Alex, I'm sure they'll get there with it - hell, they've got 300wsm brass coming so 280AI should be a walk in the park! Straight 284 brass would sell well.As an update to this thread, ADG has been around long enough and I have used enough of it in different cases that I will say I will choose it over Lapua if its an option. In my opinion its the best stuff made in the cases its offered in. It sorts excellent, necks are consistent, it handles higher pressures, and now its being used in BR rifles so I know it will shoot with anything out there. I still want my 280 ai brass![]()
How do you like Peterson? I have had excellent luck with Peterson in everything I have tried it in. And they make 280 AI brass. As an update to this thread, ADG has been around long enough and I have used enough of it in different cases that I will say I will choose it over Lapua if its an option. I want some, pretty please!! LOLI’ll have some 300 wsm ADG brass this week.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes - I've got some pre-ordered, but that's coming to Australia and won't be here before November at least.I’ll have some 300 wsm ADG brass this week.
