Adding weight to Savage Stock

I have a Savage factory laminated wood Varmint stock. The action is a solid bottom single shot but the stock has the cut out for the blind magazine, apparently they mill it out on all stocks, single shot or repeaters. In the past I have added weight to the butt stock by drilling a couple of 1/2 inch holes and filling with #9 shot mixed with Gorilla glue and I plan on doing that to this stock also. I also will be bedding this action with AcraGlass. Question -- if I fill 75% of the magazine cut out with the Gorilla glue/shot mix and let it cure for a month I then plan on completing the bedding,the full length of the action with AcraGlass -- Will this work? Or Does anyone have a better idea of what I could do to add weight in the magazine cut out -- It just such a convenient hole in the stock someone must have used it to add weight and I'm open to any suggestion.Thanks in advance for your help.

Wow here's an old thread. Taxman, did you ever try this out? I'm also curious what to do in this situation - do you fill in the hole with a block of wood, so it has the same coefficient of expansion as the rest of the stock? Or do you fill it all in with the same bedding material?

Never tried weighting the stock using the blind mag. hole, but have filled up the hole in these laminated stocks with a piece of similar laminated stock wood epoxied in place and then bedded the single shot action over it. Turned out well. Also, moved the back action screw hole forward so that the trigger guard for the 3.44 BR action can be used. This gives you more bedding surface behind the screw and seems to make it less sensitive to small changes in torque. Works well in the old M12 single shot actions as they have quite a bit of metal there.

I have weighted a blind mag well using smaller shot (6-ish?) and epoxy inside a plastic bag. Once it cures, it should still be removable, should one wish to.

Loose shot in a bag won't be as heavy as a solid piece of lead. Keep that in mind. Been there, tried that. Think about making a form and melting shot into a block to fit the mag well and gluing it in place. Depending on how deep the fore end is, you can also drill a long hole from front to back using the drill bits made for drilling thru walls to install wires and adding shot OR lead rods.
