Actions?

I was wondering if anyone has bought a gun from the benchrest.com shooters corner.,aka the list). Also was wondering if anyone could tell how good the halls, Shilen DGA actions are. Should i go with a used rifle?

Shooters Corner, owned by Bob White, has been around for ever and is very reputable. Although not many Halls and DGAs are seen now days, they are good actions and are just as competitive as new actions.

Bob White is a past president of the IBS and continues to compete. I have heard only positive reports from his customers.I would not hesitate to go the 'used' route, especially if dealing with someone who knows about Benchrest accuracy.

Just, last week) bought an older, pre BR model) Leupold 36x scope from Bob White, and could not be more pleased. Nothing but the best experience & look forward to future dealings.

I know some guys that have got guns from Bob and a very pleased the the guns.

A used gun is the way to go. I have three, Hall, Bat, and Stiller Diamondback. The Hall is a very good action. I think the older actions are the same as the new action made today. The Hall guns used can run $1000.00 to $1500.00. The DGN should be less. The Bat's will run $1600 to $2000 + All depends on type of stock, barrels, etc.

The DGN is a good action also, I have shot a few, but have not own one.

Thanks guys, now i have to make a tough choice. should i go with a savage 6mmbr or get a used custom?

I bought a used 30BR Viper in 07. Got it on a Wed. Made ammo and mounted the scope Thur. Went to the range Friday and fired 3 shots to get the zero set. Saturday got third place overall in our club's monthly 100 and 200 yd BR match [ we alternate between group and score and this happened to be a score match ].

This was my 4th BR match and 2nd score match.

My vote is for a used custom. I would suggest trying to buy one that comes with EVERYTHING except possibly the scope. Get the brass, sizing die, seater die, bullets, notebook. This way there is no figuring out seating depth, powder charge, etc. Load and shoot.

BTW, the 30BR Viper mentioned above is FS with everything but the scope !! I am changing to Viper Drop Ports. Pm if interested.
