Options with 6mmPPC action

Gentlemen,

I have a 6mmPPC bench rifle with a 12-15 year old Shilen DGA action. I may have to rebarrel and was wondering what other calibers would fit the bolt-face without mods.

If I wanted to go to a larger case such as 6mmBR, how complex is it to do so.

Note: I live only 150 miles from the Shilen factory so I could take it to them if necessary.

Have the bolt face opened up to .473. Then the world is your oyster. Pick the cartridge you like and fire away.

Most likely use it for informal target shooting and varmints here on my place. I like 6ppc a lot and have two of them. I also like 6br and 22-250. If I could open the bolt face a little I would likely have it chambered in 22-250.

I spoke with Shilen today about it. They said they would need to look at the action to see what they could do for me. I may drive there and let them do just that.

You can always turn the rims down or do what I do, rebarrel it in something that utilizes the ppc bolt face, ie., 22ppc or something on the Grendel case.--Mike

Agree with Mike,
I just put a 1 in 8 twist Bartlien Light Varmint on a 6 PPC bolt face Panda rifle and chambered it to 6BR. A machinst friend with a collet lathe turned the case heads to fit the PPC bolt face. First range trip was very impressive. We call that little rifle the 6PBR

I think you would love the .20-ppc.
It has the range of your 22-250 and alot less recoil...
