Action question

I would like some suggestions for an action with a S A rem 700 foot print that cycles smooth using a detach mag. Single shot Bat's and Bernard's have spoiled me.

I know this crowd isn't PRS oriented but you gotta be impressed at how well this guy can run a Kelby action. This was shooting a 3 mph 10" mover at 530 yards.

I have an Atlas Tactical and a Borden Mountaineer. I really like them both, but in terms of smoothness & trigger timing the Mountaineer is better by a long shot. There are other features where I prefer the Kelbly’s, but not in these areas. If you go the Borden route, I agree with others when they say to send him your trigger.

If you're happy with BAT why would you change? I think once you enter the world of high end custom actions like all the ones mentioned previously there isn't too much difference between them as far as quality. It becomes more of a personal preference. Of course you can nit pick all of them, but all are top quality. I'm not familiar with Impact precision.

I like the fact with keeping everything the same there is interchangeability. I switch barrels on a regular basis.

I make fun of my friends who insist on magazine feeding because they are always limited by the magazine on how long they can make the round. If you're used to single shot you may have the same problem. So make sure your're aware of the new mid length actions designed to let you load short action rounds as long as you wish.

While I don't disagree in general, some cartridges like the 6mm creedmoor were specifically designed to resolve the issue in a magazine fed context and work quite well. Also, if your hobby involves walking varmint hunting, it's nice to be able to have a fast follow up shot option. For ultimate accuracy, single shot for sure.

While true, this seems to be the point of concentration. What really becomes important is the relationship between the action, bolt and the magazine system. Not all DBM systems and the magazines are created equal and all need attention to get them to feed consistently and smoothly. Tune the trigger and the bolt for the best of all worlds.:)
