New to the 22 game. Waht actions would you recomend to build a ultra acurate 22lr Benchrest gun? Anyone have somthing for sale?

First Tier: Anschutz 54 or 2013, Hall, Suhl 150, Turbo.
Second Tier: Anschutz 64, Rem 40X, Walther.

There may be a couple I've missed.

Here's a comparison of Hall, Kelbly, and Turbo:

Kelbly has stopped producing its rimfire Stolle Swindlehurst 22LR BR action I believe, but you may still be able to find one.

Stiller,viperactions.com) is rumored to have a rimfire action in the works.

There are no "new" sources for the Suhl 150. It was made in East Germany, and is similar to Anschutz. Found this comment on the 'net: "Anschutz,West Germans) actually helped the East Germans of Suhl to design the Suhl 150 in I believe around the summer of 1974 for a date of origin. It is said that the original Suhl factory barrels on these guns were some of the most accurate factory barrels ever made. I would say they would in fact be one of top picks. The triggers on these guns were killers. Mine is on 2oz, and can be made to go down to approx 1oz if I remove the spring and stainless ball bearing from underneath the sear engagement screw. I feel that 2oz is light enough."

I own a Suhl 150 and have since it was imported new. It is all set up for rim fire BR. It has been sitting in my safe for longer than I care to speculate. If you are serious about getting one as it doesn't appear that I will ever shoot rim fire BR again, and even if I did I have a 37 set up similar. I can be contacted @ 520-868-5580 or e-mail aeshoots@yahoo.com and I can give you the particulars. I live in Arizona if that matters.

I have a Anschutz 54 Super Match that i have made a laminated benchrest stock for that shoots very well have won my share of State and National shoots.
Also i have a Sako P94 which shoots very well and now have a Lilja Barrel for it and with it in a wide flat benchrest stock it is also right up there as i shoot against 2013s and other top rifles and i am right there in the top few and even on a bad day like the RBA World Wide Postal last year still got me to 100th in the world. And that was just shooting it in its original stock.
Lets see how we go this year in July.

Anschutz 54, SUHL 150 for the German rifles
Winchester 52, Remington 40x for the American rifles
CZ threades thier barrels and have been getting plenty of play recently..they are Czech made.

There are custom actions for rimfires as well...saw them over on Bruno's.

Valmet or a Sako also might be plenty accurate.

RHINOUT!

Right now I would say, if you can find a good Suhl--buy it!

If you can't, between the Hall, Turbo, and Time I'd go with the Turbo. I have a Hall-fitted rifle and I don't like the action as well as Joe Friedrich's Turbo. Bolt disassembly is one important reason.

In a prone rifle I'd go Anschutz 2013.

Rimfire has been around since the 1800's not sure when the target game came in with them. I hate them guys. They clog up my home Range with their $8000 bb guns blocking the field of view with their cheap flags, kinda like mine, for my real BR guns. I seem to have become their nemesis because where I practice on the Range they want the same.
Like I told some of those guys who use to shoot real BR with me don't blame me when my 3400 fps home made 22 PPC bullet roars by your target and blows your pill pushers out of the 10 ring. Ha Ha.
Paul you can add the Win 52 and Remington 37 to your 22 list. There are Ballard, BSA, Schultz and Larsen's. Seems like every gun manufacture has taken a crack at rimfire comp rifles. Angeles BR Range will have a 50 yd comp line in conjunction with our BR line. Mike Sosenko won the State Rimfire Championship using a Swindlehurst action on a gun he built, he says his Suhl rifle shoots just as well.

right now, suhl's and annie 54's are pretty geeked out, whereever you look for them, so if you cannot find one of those, you could try a Biathalon basic, or a Finnish Lion, or even a cz, is a pretty good action to work with. I think you may find the remmy 40x, a bit easier to find than the suhl or annie.

Thanks for posting my picture of my Suhl. :D

The Suhl would be a good one. Every Suhl seems to shoot. A Rem 40X would be another great choice. They seem to make some of the best actions to build on. The turbo would be a super choice as well. A lot of turbo actions did well in the top spots I believe at the 2007 ARA Nationals. But the action alone is $1000. Be prepared to spend close to $3000 to have a smith build a bench gun for you with a turbo or Hall action. I recently had Gene Davis put a Benchmark barrel on my Suhl. Gene Davis, Butch Hongisto, Bill Myers, Lamon Loggins, all do great work.

Here's a picture of my new Benchmark barrel 16.5" twist 6 groove barrel on my Suhl action.

Here's a few good groups from the new barrel.
