Some of you have followed our efforts to get an alternative name for the site. There have been many helpful suggestions. We went ahead and registered 10 domain alternatives. The three most popular were AccurateCalibers.com, AccurateShooter.com, and RiflePrecision.com. The latter was pretty nice, but we eventually went with AccurateShooter.com.
Based on a user survey, the vast majority of you guys said "don't mess with the name." We understand that reaction. However, down here in the trenches we deal with industry reps all the time who, on hearing the site name for the first time, think the site is ONLY about 100-200 yard shooting with the 6mm BR Norma case.
Consequently, we've been fighting an uphill battle to secure even a fraction of the sponsorship you'll see in a print magazine. There have been many users who have donated to the site and for that we're grateful. But sponsorship is the key to growing the site.
Moreover, it's our goal to do some serious testing, multiple barrels, custom reamers etc.) and that takes serious resources.
Anyway. If you don't like the new "nickname", you can keep using the site the way you always have. But you'll see some features, like the BLOG, identified as AccurateShooter.com content. We're doing that to spread the word.
With your help, the site will continue to grow. As we get more donations and sponsorship, hopefully I can pay some writers to deliver the kind of articles you guys like. Right now I work 30-40 hours a week on the site, and it's not unusual to pull 4 or 5 all-nighters a month to meet deadlines.
With more resources at our disposal hopefully some of these tasks can be delegated. I want to thank all the guys who have labored hard on the site with me, particularly Jason Baney, Korey Hamzeh, Bob Blaine, Jim DeKort, Danny Reever, Rich DeSimone, Froggy, Larry Medler, and ALL the guys who've worked with us on the Gun of the Week stories. Each of those guys has devoted many hours of their time to these projects, all without compensation.
So... Enjoy 6mmBR.com and AccurateShooter.com . The mission is the same--well-crafted rifles that shoot great.
So who's up for a T-Shirt order? We're thinking 6mmBR.com on the front and AccurateShooter.com, writ large, on the back.
