Accurate high end air gun???

Whats the rifle in the middle please .....
It is a BSA Lonestar in 25. A Yellow Forum member in NZ shot one waay long range. This came up for sale and "just one more" happened.
Very loud compared to its more quiet comrades it never got much attention.
It is nice and well made.
Enjoy!
Tom

A friend (70 yo) ask today if I could recommend a high end air gun for shooting inside (he has room enough for a inside range to 35-40 yds) and maybe varmints in his yard. Maybe a coyote/fox or grouse
One pre-charged pneumatic that seems to get overlooked is the Umarex Gauntlet .22 caliber for around $325. I have one and it is quiet enough to use indoors. It is also very accurate. Another huge advantage is the air bottle is regulated. That means you get fairly constant air pressure for many shots - all very consistent velocity and point of impact. Also, it is a very large volume air bottle so you get lots of good shots before having to refill it. A non-regulated air rifle has a pressure and velocity curve which will impact point of impact. You can find one by Google searching. It is available in .177, .22, and .25 caliber. At Pyramid air the .177 is only $230. The other two calibers are $325. Trigger is reasonable. No too finicky about what pellets it likes. Really a very good value for a very accurate and quiet pcp air rifle. If you plan on shooting larger game you probably need the .25 caliber to make sure you get humane kills. Not sure if I would try to use .25 on coyotes or fox. You can also Google how much energy is suggested for humane kills of various animals. The .25 will probably have about 45 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle. It will be significantly less 40 yards downrange. Your friend needs to make sure he knows what he wants in the air rifle. An indoor shooting accurate air rifle is probably not enough to humanely kill a coyote.

FX Dreamline in 22 cal.. $1.1k
Have a look at Aigunnation forum.. lots of info and good guys over there...
Lot of good choices out there and the Avenger PCP ( made in China) is supposed to be a great gun for the money.. Check out Ted's Holdover / Airhunters/ Bob_O or Airgunner Bob...

I shot a Fienwrkbau side lever target 177 a few years ago. It was an old one and at 33 feet it put one pellet after anothe rin the same hole. It was fine for indoor shooting and if one can be found, I think it was a 124, it would be a hoot. But NOT a hunting rifle.

Only problem with this is after you shoot it you will never look at another trigger the same way again.

If you want something nice and compact and a little different look at FX Wildcat

I use a steel 22 trap for "indoor" practice but leave the actual trap/target itself at least several feet outside to ensure that most of the lead dust that is created upon pellet impact with the trap remains outside. Whatever your indoor air gun shooting setup, you should figure out a method to safely deal with the lead dust.

Here’s a link to AGN. Guy is shooting an Avenger. Seems to be the rage lately and good value.

I see a lot of recommendations without any indication of what the intended use is. Without that context it’s all bad advice.

The ideal airgun for accurate indoor plinking is low to medium power, .177 or .22 caliber. The minimum humane airgun for taking foxes and coyotes is a pcp with at least 70ft-lb of muzzle energy, preferably more if you’re talking coyote. These are opposite ends of the airgun range. You could buy a coyote capable airgun and shoot it indoors like a .22LR, but that is expensive.

So no point in going further until we know what his choice is.
