Accuracy of auto powder despencers ??

If memory serves, the chargemaster manual says plus or minus 0.1. Mine does a little better than that.

I also have a fx-120i. I use the chargemaster for weighing charges. It’s plenty good for my needs- 600 yard F class. It’s more than good enough to load ammo capable of shooting high x count cleans.

That is what I was hoping to read. I’ve been using my CM1500 for F-class at 300yds and it seems to be doing well, but I was wondering if I was handicapping myself.

How bad, or good as you may look at them... early on they seem to throw high - up to maybe .4 grains from what is set. As you use then sometimes get and stay pretty good but there is always the occasional charge reading one thing and being as much as .5 grains over. Rarely is it more than .1 gr. under. Over it can be pretty wild as powder clumps and falls in a clump. They do seem to work better with ball powders.

What kind of powder clumps and overthrows that badly?

The only way I get results that bad is if I'm doing other things and shaking the table while it's trickling up.

I have an original charge master and it is about .1 low every time I set it, that is about 4-8 kernels off as weighed on my balance beam. So now after checking I reset it .1 over desired charge weight and all is good. I check each load on balance beam before placing in cartridge takes a little longer bit it gives me piece of mind.

Maybe at 1000 you start seeing something significant, but 600 it’s not an issue at all.

I've had really good luck with the 1500. I set it to .1 less than I want, and then manually trickle grain by grain up until it hits the number I want. The thing about these "crappy" scales is that they can be .4 off one direction or another, so that's what I did to make sure it was at least consistent.

In my experience the variability in the results on any system boils down to the precision of the trickling. The measurement system shows the result, but a better scale does not improve trickling. Of course integrating a better scale can help. Adding a small dispensing tip on the CM and slowing down the trickling rate via parameter tuning yields +/- .03gr charges, but very slowly. This and other evaluations proved to me that the electronics and programming are better than the 0.1 display resolution. But I get the same quality using a tuned beam, and five times faster. So I don't use these CM enhancements, and relegate its use to lesser demanding applications such as shooting steel.
Like you I have found that the small dispensing tip in the end of the cm makes a huge difference, I stated such in the RCBS facebook group and got scolded! So I don't post there anymore. It may not work for you but it does for me, 2 weeks ago I used the cm to weigh over 100 rounds, shot and didn't do so well, this past week I used the Harrells powder drop and shot my best ever, a 66, 65 and two 63s. So a lot to be said for the "hinge" behind the trigger!

Varget, 4831 SC. Rel 22, 4895 and probably more. They pile up at the end of the dispensing tube and drop in a glob that can go .3 gr or more. I do have straws and adapters to stick into the tubes but some variation of that happens, especially when you slightly bump anything when the straws and adapters are in. Even seating a bullet while the automative dispenser is working can cause trouble

My chargemaster lite has given me none of these issues. I'm not sure if I should consider myself blessed or ignorant of what I'm missing. When I got it, I checked it with my other scale (also only +/- 0.05gn resolution) and they both agreed on some 20 charges and randomly checked charges for the next 80 after that. After that day, I boxed up my old scale and put it on the shelf. The CMlite doesn't wander on me and has operated wonderfully. Only powder I've had overthrows with is H4831 (not sc). It's plugged into an isolating surge protector, and it gets turned on no less than 30 minutes before I start loading. Calibrate right before I start loading and it doesn't drift at all in a 100rnd load session over an hour or so.
