Accuracy International ax 260 load

Hi

Need some advice on 260 load.

I have a AI ax in 260 cal with a 1/8 27'' barrel I have been trying to work up a load but just cannot get accucey I'm looking for.

Powder I have is N550 and 140 hybrid Berger bullets do you have any loads I could try using the above. COL has been 2860

Regards

Andy

You might want to try some H4350 powder. My SAC in 260 rem loves 43.5g with 142 SMK's at 2.780 col. I have friends that also shoot 260 rem and they all use H4350.

You could also try some 139 grain Lapua scenars. They also shot well with the H4350.

I haven't loaded for the 260 but I have loaded with both H4350 and N550. I'd suggest that you don't load for max loads with N550 unless you work the load up at your summer time temperature, and do your testing after the ammo has been outside for a couple of hours and not transported to the range in an air conditioned vehicle . It is more temperature sensitive. In my 308 loads that were stiff but accurate in the mid 70s blew primers in the upper 80s to low 90s.

N550 should work well for you if you can find a node that is 3/4 of a grain or so below max loads.

Buy, beg, steal, but get some H4350. The stuff is just plain magic in a 260. My AIAX 260 is an absolute laser with H4350 and 139 gr Lapua Scenars seated .030" off the lands. I have had some accurate rifles before, but this thing is just in another league.
