A few weeks ago there was a posting asking about accuracy when fireforming a cartridge. Couldn`t find the thread but the poster will know who he was.
Today started fireforming a new batch of Win 6mm brass. Good looking cases. Prefer Win to Rem to form 6AI.
Shot the fireforming 5 shot group below at 300 metres,330 yds) using a max load of RX22 and 107 MKings. Raised elevation one minute to compensate for velocity drop compared to full house 6AI,3250) with the same bullet.
As the group shows, I have never noticed an accuracy difference at short range while fireforming but there probably would be a difference at 1000 yards in a gusty wind due to the lower velocity.
Sunny, temp 7C,45F), gusty little headwind of about 5 mph, no wind flags, shot on the mirage boil. Measures 1 5/8 inch which is exactly 1/2 moa at 300 metres. Scores 50-2x. Inner lite circle is 1/2 minute X-ring. Inner dark circle is one minute 10 ring. Outer lite circle is 300 metre ISU 10 ring.
