? about ring marks on a scope

So I have been looking at the classified section lately for a decent NF scope. I noticed a lot people are concerned with ring marks. Other than cosmetic, are there any other problems with having ring marks in terms of defects?

Other than just looking bad on a high dollar scope there is nothing wrong with them as far as defects internally...

Once and a while you find a scope that the rings were clamped so tight they left indentations on the tube.

That's a definite maybe, If they were in the wrong pace but normally a ring wouldn't be there. I've seen a couple dented scopes that operated correctly but my best guess is that if the dent was where it affected tracking, one of the adjustments would be basically locked up.

Like PREACHER said,,, it's just that folks don't want to pay big bucks and have a blemish on ther new Porsche. I personally don't put much emphasis on it if it is a monor scratch mark from rings. I'm probably going to cover it up anyway. I just look for the good deal.
