? about donations

It would be nice to see what percentage of active members donate.
What percentage of members use the classifieds and donate.
What percentage of members use the classifieds and do not donate.
Once those figures are presented my guess is there will be a bit of shock at these numbers.
Another figure would be one that shows what percentage of members are consistent donators. (meaning more than once to get the "site contributor" next to their name.)

If there is a better site than this out there I have not seen it yet. I for one would be kind of lost without it.

Some people may not be in a position to monetarily contribute but contribute with there wisdom by answering questions or giving advice and for me that's fine. I think most people, especially myself, are here to learn and share their own experiences. No matter how much a person knows there's still something to be learned. This is by far my favorite site for information and as a whole the members here are very nice and eager to help. I myself, feel an obligation to donate, especially if I sell something through the classifieds, because of all that I've learned and to keep this great site going. I don't post much because I am still learning, but, if I see a post that I feel like I can contribute positively too, I do.

If you cant afford a 10.00 yearly donation, something is wrong. Its less than 1.00 per month. One year I donated 3 times and it was more than 10.00 because you couldn't pay for the education you get here in any college. For 10.00 per year, you stay on here for over 10 years compared to another site that now levied a hefty membership fee. We all blow money on what not, why not here? If you are in poverty then no one would blame anyone but most gun owners have a little money to spare to pay to upgrade the servers that provide this wonderful site.I have talked to the owner a few times and he is a standup guy so giving just a little will keep this place basically free.

We know for sure that the successful sellers using the "free" classifieds have money from the sale, yet of the first 10 "SPF" listings I looked at, half of the sellers are not site contributors.

They couldn't afford Internet access. I know there are extreme cases. But really come on!

I understand what you are saying Jon and I agree. If people enjoy and value this site they should annie up and help. I don't have a clue what it costs to keep a site like this going but I know it's not free.
By the way, your one of the people I look forward to reading posts from, I've learned a lot from you and a few others on here.

I didn't know that, and I buy stuff from Amazon on weekly basis. Thanks for letting me know.

Regarding people who say that they can't afford gifting $10 a year to the site, I can't help but being skeptical. We're talking about a sport (target shooting/hunting) that most people would classify as a luxury. Shooting at targets is not a physiological need. I don't know any shooter that relies on hunting as his main source of food. So let's be honest guys, if you don't contribute to the site you're just a parasite.

I will tell you why I donate to this site. The education alone is invaluable, being able to purchase things you need when you can not find it anywhere else, being able to sell without a fee, and of course the fellowship. All of this combined and I know there is more. I profit from this site regularly and I do not mean in making money.... I will make another donation this week. Thank you for this site, it's the best.

Agreed. I donate every time I'm on either side of a transaction. Everyone should know that the "free" classifieds aren't really free -- they're made possible by site contributors.
