AA 2520 ?

I haven't seen any mention of AA 2520 in a long time. Is it because it hasn't been available OR is it one of those powders that is out shined by other powders ??
The reason I ask is that over the weekend I picked up 200 + 308 loaded rounds at an estate sale and before I pull the bullets and go through the trouble of saving the 2520 to try in some 223's just wondering if anyone has used it with good results ?? If not my hot pepper plants get something to process.

2520 is all I have ever used in my AR-15 match rifles w/ 69gr SMK's at the short line.

It always shot good.

It's basically a ball version of 4895. I picked up a bunch of it cheap a few years ago so ended up using it in a variety of different cases I just wanted to shoot and not play musical powders with. Accuracy was very good in cases that had also shot very well with 4895.

There for a while, it was really popular - back when M1As ruled the line @ HP matches. Ball powder, with the right burn rate, worked great with S168MKs and such.

Times changed, and other options came on the market. AR-15s supplanted the M1As at HP matches, etc. While ball powders still worked great for short-line ammo (69s and 75/77s) on the SR-1 and SR-3 targets, people driving 'mouse guns' with 75-80gn bullets for 600yds wanted something a fuzz slower like RE-15 and Varget. Different powders for different yard lines (especially ball vs. extruded) rarely has a happy ending... so people migrated to using just short-cut extruded powders for 200/300 and 600.

Probably didn't help that for a while at least, it was kind of a lottery in that any given jug (lot) might have a different country of manufacture listed on it.

I got a reply on when 2520 might be available , their response weren't very positive. And with the availability of H 4895, Varget, 8208 , TAC (?) and Sierra's favorite with their 77 { N 140} looks like my Habanaro plants get fed

2520 is all I use for my long range ar-15 shooting 77 bergers. love the powder

2520 meters really well in volumetric since its spherical. I end up using an extruded extreme powder that is less temperature sensitive. It's been a while since I've used 2520 but it seemed to work well with 69gr sierras.

Modern gun powder is no good for plants. Best bet is to use it or burn it in small piles using the long matches for tiki torches. Makes an instant volcano type burn. Keep back while torching it off. Be very careful or spread it in the garbage.
