A question regarding donations: Why do we not see more of the Sponsoring 'Folks' at this site providing more equipment for Auction that will benefit the site. These people should really step up to the plate here. I know a lot of them spend 'bug bucks' advertising on the site, but a simple contribution of a product could land real reward for 6mmBR,con. When I won the auction a while back for the 'Front Rest' I was more than eager to bid,and maybe even over-bid) on the item. It was going for the advancement of this site. I know some of these 'Gurus' of the sport may think that simply buying advertising space may do the job, but donations for an auction is pure profit to the site, It is also a great way to sell a product. Everybody wants to see their favorite component builder make a donation of an item for auction. These folks will be sure that it get's bid to its’ highest value. How many more people would shop at Bruno's rather than searching the www for the lowest prices on bullets or an action it they saw Bruno's as a positive sponsor of this site. Why track prices at GARY's or some other site when we know we have a true sponsor of 6mmBR with this auction fpr the donated item. It doesn’t matter what the item is, or who the winner is: It's assuring to know that the vendor cared enough about the site to make this donation. It sure would be nice if the Kreiger’s, BAT's. Haydon's, Bruno's, Shillen, Stiller and other would make this simple contribution. It's simple; everybody do their part. There is a wealth of information on this site. Amazingly most of it is correct. It comes from dedicated shooters who really have a desire to help fellow shooters: Along with this comes the burden of the site managers to maintain this presentation of items, comments, classifieds, technologies, and an array of other interests to shooter in various desiplines.

Thanks to listening to my rant. I would hate to see the site dissappear!

well spoken blueeyedbear, since joining this site i have acquired a vast amount of knowledge on reloading-tech tips-better cleaning schedule, the list could go on.i now source my dies from the U.S.A. because i can get them sent to my home [uk] cheaper than buying from this side of the pond.
thanks to this site[good or bad?] i am waiting for my first rifle in 6mmbr i am a small calibre fan normally but reading about the performances of said 6br then i had to get one.so a big thanks to all who run this site from a grateful limey.
so come on sponsors/advertisers .
ps.next step is to get brass/bullets sent here!?

Barry,

You make a very good point, and I hope some potential sponsors, particularly some of the bigger companies such as ATK,RCBS, CCI, Alliant, Federal), Hornady, and Remington take note.

I want to give credit where credit is due though -- Savage donated a rifle for auction. Jerry Stiller donated an action a while back. We're working with BAT on a product trade for sponsorship. Gary Eliseo donated a tube gun kit for auction and Sightron has donated a scope. Lapua/Vihtavuori has contributed significantly to the site.

The challenge seems to be dealing with some of the large companies. Ironically, some smaller operators, such as Clay Spencer, Greg Tannel, and Mike Lucas have been steadfast supporters of the site from the start. Some of the key retail product vendors such as Sinclair Int'l, Midsouth, MidwayUSA, and Graf's have been very supportive. Berger and Krieger have been solid supporters. Yet it seems as though some of the biggest enterprises with Marketing Execs and big budgets have done virtually nothing. One individual donor in California has contributed more to this site than have RCBS, CCI, Alliant, Hornady, Speer, Federal, Norma, Remington, Nosler, Redding, Leupold, and Weaver combined.

I haven't yet figured that one out yet, but it could be that the bigger companies let ad agencies dictate their marketing decisions and those ad folks: a) are not shooters; and b) still don't understand the power and influence of the internet.

In any case I applaud those companies who have "stepped up to the plate" and hope that we can continue to bring new sponsors aboard. What you see here is still mostly a one-person operation. It's my dream that we could boost revenues enough to support a full-time assistant who can help with testing and who can travel to matches and interview top shooters. To a great extent Jason Baney, German Salazar, and Robert Whitley have served as de facto "Testing editors". But not only have those men volunteered many, many hours of service, without pay), but they have all actually donated from their own pockets to help pay the bills. It's remarkable to consider that level of individual dedication when you contrast it with the attitudes of certain big companies who have benefitted enormously from our tests/reviews/research but which have never contributed a penny to the site.

Paul: As always, you're doing a great job. Keep it up.:D
The thing that gets me is, out of all the posts that I see, there arn't more with the designation of "Site $$ Contributor" next to their name?? I know every little bit helps and a $5 or a $10 wouldn't be much. We pi$$ that much away on beer and smokes etc!
We need to "support" the site! I've said my piece.
My checks in the mail!;)
And if you don't like Pay Pal, slip a $5 of $10 in the mail to Jason. Every little bit helps! Support "your" site! :thumb:

It was mentioned by Paul McM in his email, that I needed to inform him of my screen name............I just now noticed it.

I have forwarded the reciept PayPal sent me as well as the reply to my original donation back in December 07' to :
mailbox@6mmbr.com

Hopefully, my donations can now be linked to my screen name.

Thanks, Brion Jordan

I, as well, think I fell through the crack. My donation early this year was never linked to my screen name. Don't make me send you another check because I will if that's what it takes :nono:

I also sent in a donation earlier in the year and it hasn't been linked to my screen name. I think that this is the best site on the web. However, just because "site contributor" isn't beside someone's screen name doesn't mean they haven't donated. I myself intend to send another donation soon. Thanks for all that you do to keep this site going.

Guys,

When a donation is made through PayPal, we don't have any way of knowing if that person has a Forum name unless they tell us. We try to send email request for Forum name in response to each PayPal donation, but we know that some of our outbound messages don't make it past the spam filter, and same with inbound replies.

Many other folks have sent donations by check via US Postal service. Again, if a Forum "nickname" isn't listed we are kind of stuck. With the postal donations, they are received by Jason Baney and he has been compiling names and addresses, but in 95% of the cases we can't associate the name on the check with a known Forum nickname.

Anyway, I DO want to thank ALL folks who have donated, and if you haven't received the proper acknowledgement just send me an email with "FORUM Nickname" in the subject line and your Nickname and approximate date of donation in the body of the message. Send email to:

mailbox@6mmBR.com

Thanks!

Thank you Paul,
I am very happy to see the $$ under my name. It's good to be part of this wonderful community. I am happy to do my part and I'll support the site again as much as I can.

Jacques

I to have fallen through the crack I mailed Jason a check earlier this year lol things happen keep up the good work best forum on the web

Moderator: You should see "Site Contributor" now when you post. Sorry for the delay. We don't yet have a foolproof system for acknowledging donations because we usually have to ask for the Forum nickname in a follow-up.

Thanks for another great year, with many hours of enjoyment, here on 6br. You can count on me to donate every year, you should have my 2009 donation by now). If for some reason, this site falls short please contact me for more. This site keeps this ol'boy happy and entertained during those long cold Michigan nights.

I also sent a check in to Jason. I've learned a great deal on this site over the past year, thanks to all the great guys willing to help & respond to questions; Preacher, expiper, billmo, BoydAllen, lynn, Cheechako, are some but not all. Thank you!

I make my latest donation with pride and gratitude to this site and the folks who operate it. Due to this site and it's loyal following I have recently been able to sell a lot of 'stuff' that was no longer in use. I appreciate the exposure this CLASSIFIED Section has. It is truly remarkable. And, the manner in which a high majority of my transactions have been completed is another testiment to the fine people who visit this site. Thank you.

I echo the thoughts of these recent posts. This site is truly a wealth of information for those of,US) who are not the most gifted when it comes to the technical expertise of shooting and reloading. Thanks to all of you who have provided such great info.

If a larger contribution would bring Donovan Moran back to the sight, I would make it. In my short experience in BR shooting I have learned so, so much from his posts. Thank you Donovan.
Unfortunately I still have so much more to learn.

Thanks again to all the staff at 6mmBR.com!!!

I have learned alot from this site. Sold a few things and bought some as well. I really appreciate coming here and reading. Some good and some bad. I have no one in my ring of friends that does anything in reguards to reloading or bench shooting. So this is where I come to gain knowledge when I have a question. I learned reloading from books and reading posts. So in a sense thank you for the teaching and maybe at some point in time I can become a teacher. So therefore I hope my contribution can help me and others along our way. I was a lurker for many years so dont look at register date. Thanks

Hi, I made a donation a few days ago by paypal under 'Bestvaluegoing' and my name Vincent Mussolino. I will donate more as I go.

Thanks for the great website.

Hello
I am new here, but what I have learned so far is invaluable.
I sent you $20 thru Paypal on the 14th of March from acasto@bigfoot.com.

Thanks.

Paul/Jason,Staff

I was at the shot this past weekend at Oak Ridge, TN. I watched Larry Sparks work his butt off all weekend putting on this match..Key is WATHING..Not shooting, because there is no way to shoot and run a big match at the same time. By putting this match on and running it safely, in top form, Larry showed that he cares enough about our great sport that he is willing to sacrafice his weekend to make all ours enjoyable...

My point is this - I know that you guys also put alot of time in making this site what it is- time that you could be shooting- The amount of info, the use of the free classifieds, the tech articles, are all something that alot of us have learned an increditable amount from.

I ask that all those that are on this site daily, but not making a donations...step up, show how much you appreicate what these guys bring us..

Thanks again for such a great site!! Another check is in the mail headed your way...

Jim
