A hello from a new member in the Texas Hill Country. I'm putting together the parts for a 6.5 PRC or possibly a 6.5-300 RCM later in the year on an American Rifle Nucleus long action. I'd like to find someone that could rechamber a 6.5 CM without cutting it back, but not having much luck with that approach. The only reason for that is there are a lot of bargain priced CM barrels out there because of the bandwagon effect. A virtual Sapphire and Tonic on me.

Hey in Texas! I have family in Kerrville. Love the hill country. Welcome to the forum. There was a pretty good guy named Josh that worked at Hill Country Rifles as you get close to downtown Kerrville. Next to the Dairy Queen. I'm not sure if he's still there, as it's been a few years since I stopped in. Check on that before you go. He's a Vet and knows his guns. Does nice work. A lot of smiths won't rechamber a used barrel. The throats get hardened and ruin the reamer. Good luck! Josh

I'll check on those guys. I had forgotten about Speedy, saw him at the range here one day several years ago and used to visit his "Area 51" I think it was. I'll have a new barrel to rechamber, lots of new extra stock around in other calibers, especially 6.5 CM. Heck I might even take a 300 WM and try the 30-375 Ruger, or a 375 Ruger for a BIG gun as a switch barrel. Some people using Trail Boss and loading 375 Rugers for a less than 200 yard low recoil fun hunting round and still have the full power for big bears or other DG. You can tell I'm retired and have all the time in the world for my mind to wander - as if I'd ever bear hunt! Just all fun ideas. I'm on a couple of other forums that are pleasant to look in on and help out if I can. This forum is one that I've noticed is a friendly, civil, helpful place, unlike one or two others I visit that I won't bother naming.
