A Tale of Two Scales

Any votes or reviews for the A&D FX-300i?

I hope to comment about that shortly - although for the FZ-300i (with internal calibration). I could not get the FX-120i locally. The shipping costs ex Canada pushed up the total price and it seemed a better option to go with the FZ-300, available here.

My vote after a year of use is the A&D FX 120i. Got rid of my old Ohaus 10-10 a while back. I use old Redding BR2 measure to throw a couple of tenths under and with my fingers put the last few kernels in the pan. Tried trickler but always managed to get a few stray kernels around to mess things up. I run my system on a re-chargeable gel cell battery and have NIST calibration weights to check on occasion. Never had an issue and have managed single digit SD in my 6Dasher since using this combo.
I too was not sold on the earlier commercial digital powder scales after having variation problems, and always relied on my Ohaus 10-10. The A&D FX 120i has solved my problems.
Just make sure there is no air moving around you

While trickling up on your FX-120i ...How do you do that with the breeze break installed? Do you drop through the top...or remove a couple of the panes?? I haven't seen one in person just online pics. Seems like it will be time consuming to remove it every time a charge trickling up.

On my FX120i I remove the two side panels. I have my Omega Trickler tube in the left opening and I use the right opening for my weighing pan. This works with or without the top cover installed but I normally do it with the cover off as it is easier to see everything and remove the pan as you can lift it up as you move it to the right.. The cover off works with no problems for me as long as I have my ceiling fan turned off and the AC off as there is a ceiling vent located just behind my chair and I must be careful not to breath on the scale.

Option 5: Ditch both electronic scales and switch to a RCBS 10•10.

I bought a Gempro 500 to quickly weigh and sort cases but other than that, I hate the thing and never use it.

It won't keep batteries without killing them in about 3 hours flat (on or off) and it never seems to come up with the same weight twice on a particular powder charge, unlike my 1979 RCBS. It's just too sensitive, and, I would argue, more sensitive than I need for weighing powder.

YMMV.

MyWeigh support completely blew me off on my return of my GP 250 for "lifetime warranty" repair. No response at all and they have had it over a month and I have pinged them twice on their contact email. Zero support, none whatsoever.

I emailed Old Will Knott Scales where I originally purchased it. They apologized for the shoddy customer support at MyWeigh and sent me out a replacement scale from their stock, and they said they will take that up with MyWeigh.

So... stay away from MyWeigh, and whatever you do buy, Old Will Knott is a standup organization!

My FX120i scales are set to Fast response and I use them without any of the side panels on. They're on a very solid bench (weighed down by heaps of projs..) and they're amazingly resistant to interference. I have to breathe on them fairly close or knock something before they misread. The resolution of 0.02gr is quite right because they reliably register one kernel of H4350 thrown by the Omega, and the zero does not drift.

Really can't see why you'd need "better" than that.

On my FX, I drilled a hole on the left panel to insert the Omega tube. On the front panel, I made a hinge so I can open/close easy to keep any possible breeze to a minimum.
