A question to our UK Members

My wife graduates residency next year and wants to spend a year doing Locum Tenens work in the UK. My question, that I am homing you guys can help me with, is there a legal way for a non-citizen of the UK to poses a firearm while living there? I would love to take my FT/R rifle and be able to shoot a few matches while over the pond, but Im not looking to break ITAR regulations either. Thanks for any and all help!

You can get a visitors permit if you have a valid reason (which would be to shoot some matches) we would gladly invite you to any of our GB F Class league matches (one per month from March through to November) we also run the European F class champs which other then the world champs is probably one of the bigger international matches in the world, this year it lasts a week!

If you need more details pm me nearer the time and we can get things started for permits etc.

I lived in Edinburgh for 2-3 years in the mid eighties. I got into sporting clays and bought a shot gun while there. No problem getting a permit from the local police. I was there on a "green card" though, not a simple visitor. A close friend of mine from Australia was living in England during that time as well and had a safe full of rifles and he had no problem with permits as long as he followed the rules.

Unfortunately UK gun laws have changes since the 80's

I would say a month or so to get things squared away, the more time the better though.
